Menu Textures Issue

I am having an issue with the textures on the menus in the game. Some of the options I cannot see at all. One example: the research screen I guess has options next to the Done button. I can't see them but I managed to find them thanks to tool tip pop ups letting me know they were there. Other examples of visual issues are shipyard window, I can't see the rotate options. All the Buttons are just white text on all the menus like (I am assuming that they normally have textures that I can't see though so maybe thats not an issue). Oh and the main bar has only 6 white text buttons that say Population, Military, Economy... etc (maybe buttons, when I click on them the title of the box changes to what I click on but the box contents don't change at all). I am assuming that there is suppose to be statistics or something in there.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Oh, I should mention that I just bought the Gold Edition and updated everything via Stardock Central including Movies, Multimedia, Dark Avatar, and Heightmaps.

WOW I am an idiot... The issue turns out to be just my poor choice of color with the starting option "Appearance" if you set it to black, you won't be able to see much of the menus.
