Ideas for Dreams

Ideas for animated backgrounds

Hi all,

I don't have the skills to create these backgrounds, but maybe some of you guys do. I'm sure I'll get flamed, there's probably already another wish-list in the forum somewhere but hey! This isn't a wishlist for functionality, it's a simple "What I would like as a background"

1. The rotoscope effect from the early 70's Doctor Who (The blue tube effect) There's already a couple of tubes out there, but it would be nice to try and duplicate the opening titles without the titles if you catch my drift

2. Anyone seen Disney's "The black hole"? I'd love to have a simple starscape with the black hole to one side (Or a view across the Cygnus would be cool too with the black hole in the background)

3. A view looking down the main shaft of "The Machine" from Forbidden Planet. Or even Babylon 5's updated version.

I'm sure there's more that others like myself would like to see, and that the very talented dreamscapers here can accomplish.

How about the Dallas Cowboys. I seen a Denver Bronco dream a few days ago very cool. I've been a Cowboy fan for years and I think now that they are doing well maybe there are some new fans out there that might like to see that as well just a thought.

NFL licensing is very closely monitored and cannot be hosted without permission.

true, true. I should have thought of that. Oh well wishful thinking.

We can hope someone at Stardock will strike a deal like they did with NHL and the NBA and I can get my Packer theme.
{Please ignore the lose to the Bears last week. 'Twas a fluke}

The Packers will rebound. They need to knock off the Redskins tomorrow. My nerves are still shot from that crazy Dallas win over Buffalo, I don't know how they won but I'll take it. Buffalo definitely harder than they look. I do hope the future holds some NFL licensing. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Here's my idea.....It might of been stated before if so then Its a good idea.
I always wanted a desktop that could display the weather outside.... if it was rainging, your desktop would be raining....if its sunny outside then the desktop would be sunny... display the current outside weather in your area by setting up some thing using the weather channel. All you would need to do is enter the zipcode.

I love AskewBowl's idea of the weather on the desktop..

I honestly don't know how one would go about doing that for a dream but I want to say that I agree that the weather idea is a great idea for a dream :)

I also think more winter dreams would be a great idea..

More snow more trees more lights even some presents and such for Winter would be a good idea too :D

Blessings

I'd like to see a .dream of the inside of a cave filled with stalagtites, with water dripping off them into lil rippled pools below....

And I don't even use Vista...but that'd be way cool!

These ideas require programming to make dynamic content display but...

...How about a dream that dynamically displays the graphics from any installed BOINC projects running (i.e. Seti@home)?

...or something that animates/changes colours based on system info - so the main tint or the colour of particular elements could depend on the average CPU usage over the last say 30 secs etc...or the sun could rise/fall, a lamp could brighten/dim etc.

In terms of an idea which just needs animating - how about a nice picture of a real desktop complete with table lamp or perhaps a flickering candle withe the shadows cast from the changing light?

What I can't believe hasn't been done yet is a fireplace. I saw a demo for a nice one done years ago a screensaver... here it is. Something along those lines would be a great dream.
