I just think there's a lot of things do to in these 6 hours with all bugs in the beta ...

The article says 6 hours but the countdown says 11. Even the cable company gives a 2 hour window sheesh.

The subject says WindowBlinds 6 is only hours away.  Not that it is 6 hours away.

neophil78: I would stongly urge you to uninstall WB and reboot before installing the release version of WB.

It might also be a good idea to move the skins from the skins directory before reinstalling WB and then putting them back (excluding molten, diamond, classic etc that are included with WB) after the install as I think your issue is linked to file permissions on the skins.

Neil, are you advising that we are to uninstall WB6 beta before installing the new WB6?
I don't know what I am happier about...WB6 or that Froggy used one of my walls for a screenshot.

StephanA: It is probably best if you uninstall the beta, reboot (important) and then install the release.

That way we can be sure you do not have any files left from the beta causing problems.

If you didn't identify the problems left in beta (you said you were not able to reproduce the unskinned StartPanel while a lot of people have still that trouble) i just wonder how the release even after uninstalling the beta, will work correctly ...

I think i've done everything to manage with the beta, delete all .wb4 files, uninstall WB6 beta, cleaned up everything lefted on HD in different Stardock folders (and registry as well), reinstall WindowBlinds (though with a roll back of all WindowBlinds skins to C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds ==> everything's running fine), then try once more to install directly the latest WB6 beta version and then on the second reboot (and for each new reboot i get the same trouble: Startpanel not skinned and taskbar partially skinned ... and that with "old" skins or "very new ones" ... for me, something's wrong with making .wb4 files ...)

neophil78: We have installed WB on many XP machines and none of them have had the problem you have.

That is why I suggest removing WB, rebooting, and in fact it would be best if you deleted the entire skins directory.  That way any bad security attributes will be removed.

I seem to recall someone else with a similar issue found their problem was with their taskbar overrides settings.  Because of this I am going to suggest you open regedit and delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\WindowBlinds

That is assuming you are comfortable with doing so.  This will remove all your registry keys for WB (do this after uninstalling)

I should also point out that I do not consider 2 people to be a lot of people.  It is possible there is a bug in WB but without more reports and no ability to reproduce this we cannot do any more.

Has the Infra Red receiver conflict/problem been sorted out?
bobbyhundreds: The current beta of WB on OD should have fixed the IR receiver problem.

poweroby: WB 6.0 is being released with an english language UI.  Though the app will of course work on non english versions of Windows.

We plan to turn on multiple language support for wbconfig in a future interim build (probably 6.01)
