Is there any way to enable "lingering racial grudge" for custom races?

If you check out the "report" section in the foreign tab, sometimes you'll see races have a - to relations named something like "lingering racial grudge." I think you can see it between the drengin and torians, for instance. Does anyone know what this is based on and if it is possible to implement for custom races?

Thr grudges are based on the storyline of the game, and I don't think you can enable one for a custom race.

That'd be a really cool feature to add, though.

yeah, I was just thinking it would be nice if it were possible. It would be an easy way to get antagonistic races in total conversions to behave more like they're supposed to.

I believe when you customize a race you can set their AI behavior; there is a generic AI, or there is one for each (pre-made) race. I think that the race specific AI's have these "grudges" coded into them, but I don't know of a way to isolate them and place them in other AI's, or a way to make a grudge against a custom race. You could give a custom race the Torian behavior and they would dislike the Drengin, but thats about the extent of it.

Alternatively, I think at the start of a game you can set the initial relations between races, however, this isn't as "permanent"; if you set two good races to dislike each other, they will still eventually build a friendly relationship due to their matching alignment.

Yup. One of the things I like about playing premade races is the existing relationships between them. It'd add a lot of depth to custom races to be able to set up similar pre-existing relationships. And yes, it'd also aid total conversions massively, I'm sure.
