[newbie post] Diplomatic screen and global intelligence

Ok, I'm a newbie, currently playing my second game. GC2 is a wonderful game, for sure, but I'm a bit disappointed by the diplomatic screen. When another race agree to speak with you, you see ALL the techs it has and you don't. IMHO, it's too much intelligence ! Would I have discovered large hull and every one else in the universe is fighting with small ones, most of the time I would'nt want anyone to know what I'm capable of. Idem with other techs. And idem whith ships !!! The number of ships a race has should be highly secret !
So I thing the diplomatic screen could be improve :
- the IA should be able to hide very valuable techs it want to keep secrets
- it should be able to answer a proposal : if I want to trade this tech or planet, why just don't let the IA think of the price ? And propose a ship, or a tech I could'nt even suspect it has ?
That doesn't sound as much developpement, and to my mind would spice up diplomatic relations. No ?

I don't think the AI uses what it sees on your tech list anyway, and you only see stuff on their tech list that you don't already have.

As for ships, the number doesn't really matter THAT much. The Drengin may have swarms and swarms of Super Dominator Corvettes, but that really means nothing if you're fighting with max-tech 800-attack capital ships.

Precisely ! I think the game would be better if i could'nt see their techs ! I don't want to know the Drengin has large hull before the first battle against their large ship. It would be much more surprising ! In my opinion, discover these techs should be the work of the spies.

Maybe, but in certain case, knowing that a neighbour is short of ship allows me too launch a fast counterattack. I'd rather be ignoring that. Once more, could be one usefull use of spies...
