Forums broke when using IE6

All day today I get the following when I access these forums using IE6.

At the moment I'm accessing these forums with FF 2.0 but please spare me the inevitable criticisms of IE.

Thanks.

I'm using Internet Explorer 6. Its displaying fine to me. No problems other then the "service unavailable" sign on the forums.

ditto, on both my work and home PCs.

Well it's still definitely not working for me with IE6 at work. I'll let you know later if I have the same issue at home. However, whatever settings I have at work *used* to work on this site with no problem. Haven't noticed any "service unavailable" although access times are rather large.

I'm getting the same junk as Mumblefratz at work on IE6 and have been for a couple of days - whereas prevously I had no problems. I don't think anything has changed here at work and all other sites I visit regularly continue to look just fine (and of course I'm viewing the site just fine now on whatever old version of Firefox I have installed that I only use once in a blue moon for debugging other people's totally messed up javascript).

I'll have to try my IE6 at home too.

Well IE at home works just fine which is kind of surprising because it's at home where I have the most restrictive settings (all active content disabled).

Don't really know what's up with this although I suppose I can use FF at work (don't have/want it installed at home).

Is it still acting up for anyone today?

Yes. Im not getting the random characters, but I am having problems with the forums today. Sometimes it freezes up for a long time when I try to load a page, and sometimes IE crashes altogether. I was having similar problems at home, although not as severe, maybe due to a faster connection there.

Try deleting the temp files and cookies.

That was one of the things I tried, and it did not make a difference. Thanks for the suggestion though.

It seems worse on IE6 than IE7. The forums sometimes freeze and after a very long wait, I close the browser. It gives the "End Now" pop-up.

They've always been real slow, but it seems worse as of late. Clearing the cache seemed to help before, but not so much for the past couple of days.

Working fine for me today...

(same work IE6 setup that I was having problems with recently)

I had the web team look at it yesterday, but none of them had any problems with it.

I've seen the gibberish a bunch of times--particularly during the day. Later it would
work fine.

I doubt if it is IE6.

I assumed the Stardock people were fiddling or their server was having problems.

I gave the forums a rest for a couple of days and now everything is just fine. No changes on my end. Perhaps the forums were just tired. It could happen.
