Building a better desktop with DesktopX 3.5

Release date - next week!

Next week Stardock expects to unveil the first major update to DesktopX for the year.

DesktopX is a powerful yet easy to use desktop building program.  Once installed, users can easily create desktop objects that can be assigned any image allowing them to be any size or shape. In addition, these objects can have multiple states (user-defined or simply mouse over, mouse away, etc.).  Moreover, objects can have scripts attached to them written in either VB Script or JavaScript.

As a result, users can build nearly anything with DesktopX. It is almost certainly the most powerful utility of its kind.  It has been used for everything including creating computer interfaces in movies, user interface screens in computer games, stand-alone programs, and more.

DesktopX 3.5 includes many small tweaks to the program along with one big new feature: The ability to export content as native Windows sidebar gadgets.

See the link below to get a guided tour of what's in DesktopX 3.5.

So no more betas before the release?
I'm very interested in what the "small tweaks" is and what issues the next release addresses.

Thank you for a good news. It will be my first holiday at this year!

Hope the comboboxes on the DesktopX Form will already work...

i wish desktop x was a little more advanced. its too hard (read possibly as time consuming) to fake things with animations, and using the full power of a pc to really powerup the GUI could be a lot of fun. things like mouse clicks that produce ripple effects or distortions. again, not faked with animations, hardware effects. i've seen on occasion some neat cursorxp things, but then again, its fake, and its limited to the cursor.

id like to have a interface that really responds, and be more dynamic, responding to other skin elements such as windowblinds. i think thats the reason i've never used it for more than a widget or two on my desktop, i change wb themes too often (or i did before vista), and the desktop x themes didn't really change with it. more things that hooked into the OS too, like if I hit windows_key+tab, not only do i get the neat vista alt+tab, but i can have things go on in the background like fade, darken, desaturate, etc. just lots of cool things like that to mix and match with themes which create a larger sense of style, with less need/reliance for lots of stagnant premade graphic images to create unique and dynamic themes. *shrug* its asking a lot i know, and no i don't want to see it in windowsfx, thats self defeating and missing the point.
