Stillness in Motion

when infinite and finite are one

With palms together,

Good Morning Everyone,

Last night's Study Group was very well attended. We sat zazen for 25 minutes and then discussed the lecture in Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind on Non-Duality.

Non-duality is a challenging concept because it is actually an experience. To experience non-duality means we must forget our self and become completely one with our activity and environment. Oh boy.

The challenge here is to give ourselves permission to release control, to release our mind, and to accept each and every thought or feeling or sensation as if if were a breeze passing through us. In this process, the witness at some point no longer exists and there is just this.

Its often thought of as learning to ride a bicycle or a horse. At some point, you and bike, you and horse, are really one. There is no mind involved choosing this or that movement to stay balanced.

What is the point? Why experience Big Mind? Why experience such a sweet surrender?

As we experience Big Mind we experience reality as it truly is, directly. It is a pre-conceptual experience.

In this process we step into the realm of our true nature: who we are prior to what we call ourselves or what we think of ourselves.

I like to call this, Stillness in Motion.

Be well.

This is some serious stuff! Letting go and not having control is hard for most people to do. I've tried it now and again and it's actually the most enlightening and freeing thing I can do for myself. The problem is I don't do it often! Stillness in motion indeed!

Dear foreverserenity,

Letting go is a challenge, for sure. We think we need to be in control or else, yet, in truth (it seems to me) control is such a fantasy of our mind anyway.

A hint: when experiencing a thought or feeling that is unpleasant, notice it completely, embrace it, then place your complete attention on your breath as your breath enters and leaves your body.

Thank you for reading my blog note.

Be well.
