WinCustomize Site Issue: "Operation Aborted" Errors in IE7

Good Afternoon

Over the past few days, we've been receiving reports of users encountering "Operation Aborted" errors at random on WinCustomize pages.  These errors were occuring in the forums, galleries, skin pages and more.  The way it went was the page would load for a user, then the Operation Aborted error message would come up, and after clearing the error, the page would clear.

We've been able to reproduce this issue internally and have identified the conflict.  It's an issue between IE7 and how some of our page scripts work.

We are currently working on building and testing the fix to eliminate the error.  If you find you're encountering the error with extreme frequency, please post a comment here with the exact version of Internet Explorer you're running (Help Menu -> About).

This error does not occur in Firefox.  If you are being blocked from regular use of the site by the error, please consider using Firefox temporarily until we get the fix in.

I will post when the fix has been implemented.

Thank you for your patience,

-Mike

Whenever you encounter this error, try moving your cursor out of the page area of the browser and force a refresh (F5).  Let me know if that works.

IE 7 version 7.0.5730.11

This has happened to me about ten times in about the past three days in all parts of the WC site.

Happened twice a short time ago and refresh would not redisplay the page so had to reload via Favs

Yeah, can't refresh without clearing the warning box first.

Still having the problem IE version 7.0.6000.16512. I did find out if I log off then go to the forums log back in, then it will let me in until I go somewhere else on the site then it has problems again. Thanks for working on getting this fixed.

Having this issue as well, IE version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-225. If I close all instances of IE and come back in it seems to work for a little while.

getting really old having to open up firefox 30 times a day
You could just go over to the dark side you know and never open IE.

I'll quit skinning before that happens

I was reading this post again and happened to notice the date of the original post was August 1, 2007. We are coming up on two months with this problem. Do we have an approximate date of when this will be fixed?

i get the same problem with IE7, so i took matters into my own hands, i now use firefox exclusively for wincustomize. the only time is use IE now is for microsoft update and if i encounter a site in firefox that requires IE then i have an addon that lets me view that page in internet explorer.

Is this when browsing the forums, or the rest of the site?  It's an important distinction since the two are different in many ways.

The issue is we thought we had resolved it, but it seems to be creeping back in for some reason.

I've had this problem for a while now. I usually just refresh after the error and 50% of the time it'll load properly the second time. The page DOES appear to load (I see the skins description, the image thumbnail, etc but then it bombs. I'm running Vista Ultimate with IE7 v7.0.6000.16512.

Sorry for the double post... but, interestingly... it only seems to happen when I'm viewing the pages in a tab. If I take the same page and hit it from a new instance of IE (not in a tab), then I don't get the errors.
