Storyline

I believe the story line in any game can make or break it, and was wondering if this game was going to have an in depth story line, rich with detail, to keep people playing; or is the game geared more towards online multiplayers?

They said that there wont be a campaign, but there will be a few scenarios highlighting he major points of the war.

I think what they are planning will be fine, this game is gonna shine in multi-player

Hopefully, if the fix the pacing that is. I like open single player better then a campaign, sure a campaign has a story line but often the missions are so linear and redundant that it just gets to be too much of hassle to play through the entire thing.

I agree that a storyline is really important to any game. In addition to the scenarios, I would love one absolutely massive game that simulates the entire situation: the TEC being attacked by the Vasari who are desperately searching for fuel, and the Advent coming in from another direction. I know that it would take many, many stars, but it would be very cool to play any three of the factions in the proper context.
Some people have talked about a game ticker or a story maker, and I'd like that too. Scenarios would be nice, random scenarios would be better.

This is more than likely going to be like Galactic Civilizations 2 where the "campaign" is going to be a series of scripted sandbox missions (hopefully non-linear). In GC2 it shines in its sandbox game. I agree that Sins will shine the most in MP.

If sins makes its campaign a "metaverse" Like what crusader suggested that would be awesome. Massive.. Oh Yes. A loooong game that will take weeks, or months to complete.. Oh hell yes.

I dunno about months, but 2-3 weeks would be ok with me, after that I start to forget stuff...

That would get awfully boring, the game already gets awfully boring.

Great, it would be an "overgame" that consisted of the results from hundreds, if not thousands, of individual "mini-games". Think of it this way: each game we play now would be an individual battle in the larger scheme of the war, which would be represented by the meta-game.

So has anyone mentioned how the map/gameplay in the finished game might look, and how it's going to coincide with the background they gave us in the "LORE"?
