Battlefleet Gothic

Battlefleet Gothic

I don't know if any of you guys are a fan of the mini's genera. Did anyone here ever play games workshops short lived Battlefleet Gothic.

That game was pretty fun.

Some of the stuff I liked from there.

1. Massive torpedoes

Were talking about ship killers that you had to move the ship out of the way from and could use to move other guys ships out of areas that you wanted to go into.

2. Boarding action

You could fire "boarding torpedoes" and basically take over a ship or failing at that sabotage large sections of it.

3. Ramming / Fire Ships

Some ships could ram it was pretty sweet some could also function like a big torpedo.... that was awesome.

4. The ships had sections you could knock out an engine ... that was pretty cool.

5. Ships could really blow up

As in they would implode and take down anyone who happened to be near them that was pretty awesome.

6. Some ships as i recall could use gravitic and solar wind effects

@Thrawn: Oh man...Abaddon's Planet Killer has nothing on that shmexy bucket of bolts.

Me too! I wants one too! I think I see about 4 IN cruisers in there, with a battle barge, a spare chaos bridge, and some unknown stuff in back. Wonder what that is in between the gun decks. Maybe the top of the bottom deck's cruiser hulls? It doesn't look like that, though.

Experimental rules for that would be BEAST!

"If the Planet-killer-killer [edit: that's what we should call the ship] should fire upon an enemy ship, roll a d6. On a 4,5, or 6, the recoil makes the ship do a barrel roll and it can't fire in the next turn."

Anyway. I think an excellent way to get back on topic would be to demand a timetable from X, after that lovely featurelist he gave us in the last page.

So, how 'bout it? Pwiddy pwease?

he just gave us a feature list and you want MOOORE??

Damn this forum! (ignore this post...technical issues...)

 I have a better idea for an uber Ork ship. Roll a 1 or a 2 and a squig crawls through the ventilation shafts and manages to get into a gun. The ship asplodes XD

Well...are you saying you don't?

Sorry, now that I have less homework I need something to do with my time.

Thrawn, you should hear the plans a few guys and I had about a torpedo that, rather than being filled with explosives, is packed chock full of snotlings.

"Hey, what the thr-GET IT OFF!! OH MY GOD, GET THESE THINGS OFF OF MEEEE...!!!"

There are some experimental rules for a dual decked battleships floating around the specialist games forums, but that's not getting in the game, sorry, we already have a super for the in ;p

completley OT but... woooo GW AU has BFG again!
aaanyways... i've slowed down a bit due to a few emotional problems that have cropped up recently and in a few days i will find out if i got a job i got interveiwed for on thursdy so i may not be able to do much for a while... but i'll try to strugle through and figure out WTF is up with my XSI and get us some imported models
Reply #536 Top

GW Canada is the only GW with Tau Escorts...US doesn't have squat. So if I ever need more escorts I'm just going to get them from Canada. (Unless they run out of them too.) I think they just stopped making them and GW CA just has some extra...I pray they have a lot.

Do they ship to the US? That might be why there are so many different GWs.
No, the official story behind the escorts is that they're repackaging them all, so they should be back, and are even coming back in france and germany as we speak.

Forum thread where they cover the missing escorts in detail

Don't worry prezo, just do what you can, and don't feel pressured to be a workaholic like I am. ;) We're glad for all your help, and it's good to see you back.

Orky boarding torpedoes may or may not be full of orks. Grots, snotlings, anything you want could be inside them.

Found the fan rules for a dual-decked battleship (they're the bottom rules)

LOL! I really hope that modeling store near us really does start selling more than Chaos fighters (they said they might bring it back and have tournaments and stuff. The owner of the store said he had like 40 Ork Ramming ships).

RAM! RAM! RAM! RAM! RAM!

Sorry, brute ram ships get me excited :p .

Anyway, back on the topic of the mod, the ships are done, and I'm starting on the planets when I feel like it/can. Any ideas on the planets? I'll do the ones I have listed, but if anybody has access to a 3rd ed. 40k rulebook, there's a really good list of the main planet types that might have ones I forgot.

Hive planets and forge worlds just have to look like coruscant. Simple as that.

Death worlds can loko like terran worlds, as can agri worlds...though death worlds won't have ice caps and should have a little skull on their icon.

Are there going to be Tomb Worlds?

I have third edition, here are photocopied pages (might wanna blow up to see closer):

3rd edition! Oh man, I just had an attack of nostalgia.

We're wonderfully on topic in this mod, aren't we? =P
Reply #546 Top
Nah, 3rd ed is officially on topic, because it's for my reference as I do planets, and I loaned my 3rd ed rulebook to a friend.

For now, I was going to do terran/ice/volcanic for death world (but a more overgrown terran to distinguish it from feral), desert for hive (a la armageddon, probably end up adding some giant clusters of lights (remember the hives are concentrated, not planet covering like forge worlds' factories), try to license the city world skin from the planet pack mod (I forget where to find it on this forum, links appreciated) for the forge worlds, maybe the standard terran with dim lights and more cleared land for a feral world (just dye some areas brown and call it a day), and asteroids for asteroids (SURPRISE!!!). That, and the buildings, should cover all those types relatively well. Maybe add agri worlds in later, but the whole food thing isn't an essential resource in a space based game, maybe give them a trade good that boosts pop growth (i.e. food).
i dont think asteroids should be a class of their own realy in the fluff AFAIK they dont do much colonising of astroids unless its a mining station (which we have covered withg resource astroids) the other reason would be the research stations at the bottom of those pic's so i'm guessing we use em but make em a lot less common. astroids as they are in sins shouldent be as common maby dead worlds would fit the dead astroid role but otherwise i think it should just be a randomisation of planets

xthetenth:

Do you mean Uzii's Sins plus for planet pack? He has a lot of great custom planets and i think all you have to do is ask him/tell him you are using them. Here's linky:

Prezo, good point on the asteroids, I will include the free-floating resources on the asteroids, though, to represent the mining colonies.

Thanks Kiernyc, that's a big help. I just Pmed him now, hopefully he will give us permission, especially considering some of the newer planets I don't remember, such as the forest planet for deathworlds, industrial planet for hive worlds (it doesn't have enough factory for a forge world), urban for forge worlds, barren for research stations, and it even has a ship graveyard so we can get code for claiming hulks.
Gott in Himmel, Kiernyc, that's pretty good stuff!

Will that guy let us use his planet designs?
