Battlefleet Gothic

Battlefleet Gothic

I don't know if any of you guys are a fan of the mini's genera. Did anyone here ever play games workshops short lived Battlefleet Gothic.

That game was pretty fun.

Some of the stuff I liked from there.

1. Massive torpedoes

Were talking about ship killers that you had to move the ship out of the way from and could use to move other guys ships out of areas that you wanted to go into.

2. Boarding action

You could fire "boarding torpedoes" and basically take over a ship or failing at that sabotage large sections of it.

3. Ramming / Fire Ships

Some ships could ram it was pretty sweet some could also function like a big torpedo.... that was awesome.

4. The ships had sections you could knock out an engine ... that was pretty cool.

5. Ships could really blow up

As in they would implode and take down anyone who happened to be near them that was pretty awesome.

6. Some ships as i recall could use gravitic and solar wind effects

What's outside the sphere of what is possible? With regards to what I am suggesting, this is all done by a 'games master' looking at the past games, recording progress and then rolling on tables using an actual die, whether thats a digital or physical one, and then updating the maps through galaxy forge accordingly.

Yeah, it's not that hard to deal with, but I hope we can integrate it into sins to make it easier to deal with.

Good grief! How did that happen?!

My internet needs therapy -_-

Don't make fun of its stutter please, it's embarassing enough as it is. Also, we've got a lot of very well developed ideas on super ships and other fun things on our modcraft forum, which I might decide to distill into teasers if I get the time. ;)

Finished Planet Killer, devising FX for that Armageddon Gun will be fun :p You can't really see the underside from this angle though so I'll get another shot by tomorrow.

Also pics of those cruiser and escorts would be helpful thrawn, I skimped detail on the cruiser rear and still have little idea as to what basic Tau ships look like.

As for maps we could try adding an uncolonizable "empty" bit of space, in strategic choke points.

I did post on your modcraft forums awhile back a gallery of unpainted ships. Unfortunately, the camera was crap. I'm hoping that Kiernyc's camera will be better. My paint scheme is a little weird (not done yet. Still have to do the back half excluding the wings and engines to paint). Its Boltgun Metal, Blood Red, and Burnished gold (not your standard greens of the Imperial navy). Kiernyc has painted his ships in Commander Farsight's colors (Kiernyc's explanation as to how he got ships is they just defected or he hijacked 'em).

The crappy pics:

^Ignore that half blue one. I gave up on it and it looks bad and I had that paint scheme lol.

^thats upside down lol

Thrawn, my IN colors aren't exactly standard either, basically black templars colors. White prow, black hull, gold trim, and red details (explanation is that it's a Segmentum solar, which IIRC uses black for their hull, fleet with close ties to mars, so it has red details), and my chaos fleet is heavily converted to be extra tzeentchy, but I have no idea how to paint it other than making the towers silver.

Inert, how would a beam as wide as an escort is long coming out of each megacannon in a baleful purple or crimson seem? That'd go well, while I think pulsar lances should be basically white with the same texture. Sound good or have better ideas?
Sorry to butt in...I like to think of beams as more of a pure white with fringes of bright orange around the edges, it makes it seem less star wars laser-y.

As for chaos lances, who knows that crazy sh*t they dump into their reactors.

I kind of get some pangs of disbelief whenever I look at a ship painted in the colors of a space marine chapter. For the Templars or Iron Hands, not so much, but take the Imperial Fists. how long is a battle barge? How much surface area does it have? Where do you GET that kind of paint in abundance?

I guess I'll leave that question to those more qualified to answer...

Right, we're using advent/kol beams for lances, and that's what i'm talking about. I was thinking orange for normal lances, almost white for pulsars, and advent blue for tau ion cannons. Just talking about changing the color of the halo.

The paint is summoned forth from the miasma of plot, and it's just the palette I used, anyway.

this has nothig to do with BFG but why when they want to "cleanse the heratic" don't they just use nukes or neutron bombs i find it strange that they have titans that are 80-100 meteres or around 300 feet tall with giant machine guns but they dont use nukes.
Because they want to have something left when they're done. Either they want the planet, and they'll send in ground troops, or they'll toast the planet and nukes aren't enough for that. They have stuff so much nastier than nukes that nukes are kind of obsolete.

Gaunt said something along the lines of "Why else use atomics unless your only goal was complete devastation? There is no conquest with using atomics, only destruction."
...or something very much like that...

Plus, if Plasma reactors superseded nuclear equivalents then it makes sense that plasma bombs could do the same, probably much cleaner too allowing repopulation.

But in general, manpower is cheaper than technology, it's why massive guns are reloaded and run out with massive crews of ratings and other fun things.

Ok well I think I might take my model home and hijack the colors I need and get some uber painting done tonight (I've never had paints or spray paint, so all my models are at Kiernyc's house).

Good points. But also: there are pretty n@r$sty weapons of mass destruction available to the Imperium: exterminatus torpedoes, for one (we definately need to include those!)

Heheheh, that made me remember a game of 40k I played a couple years back...I was marines, and teamed up with Kroot:
Me: so what exactly do those kroot do?
Him: well, you can use them as meat shields or bullet magnets
Me: What's the differance?
Random passerby: Meat shields make a bigger splat when you kill them!
bullet magnets are the ones with the save?

I still can't get over the time I took down three space marines on the charge with three kroot, and the force commander didn't kill any of them. That rocked :CONGRAT:.

Plus, kroot are awesome in cityfight with tau on the upper floors.

Assault marines are great for cityfight, especially if the sarge has power weapons.

Two of my assault marines once hacked their way through a building with a 10-man havoc squad in it... in three turns.

Pure bliss:)

Have you ever seen a fully kitted blood angels command squad with librarian in action? sure, it's easily 500 points, but if your enemy leaves anything in their assault range, it's toast. Up to 8 librarian force weapon attacks... that's a lot of carnage, though you want to try to assault two squads at once so they don't get shot in the enemy's turn.

All hail Thrawn2787!

He's the only one posting any mods lately. I commend his work. Almost all the rest of you post about insignificant subjects like cityfight or something that doesn't belong in this thread.

Yep, sorry, I'll get to work soonish or post some of the stuff on modcraft so we can get some feedback. :p

Thanks but to tell the truth I brought my model home and then I realized the lighting in my house sucks so I haven't painted all weekend. I'll try to finish it this week though.
