Shaken but not stirred... lucky escape

Shaken but not stirred... lucky escape

Yesterday morning I was driving up the Sheffield Parkway (a two lane road going from the city to the motorway) on the inside lane. A large lorry in the outside lane behind me decided to switch to the inside lane... He caught the back end of my car which turned me 90deg, smacked head on into the driver's side and pushed me 100yds down the road.

The road was blocked for an hour and made the news (famous at last). It took the emergency services that long to get me out - they ended up having to cut the roof off...

The car is trashed. With the whole of one side caved in and the roof cut off it looks like a pile of scrap. Don't let anyone criticise Rover cars - that  Rover 200 of mine is was one tough little car. I walked out of hospital with just a few bruises and whiplash.

Speaking of injuries, I already have the blood-sucking lawyers all over me...

WOW!! I'd never heard of a Rover 200 before (living here in the US, I probably wouldn't), so I Googled it and see it's shaped similarly to my '99 Chevrolet Metro Hatchback. Must of been a bad crash. I see the steering wheel got moved to the opposite side of the dashboard.

Liver, Lungs and Prostate, Fuzzy..

Glad you're ok Fuzzy, I am blind (I use special software) I used to live in Sheffield many moons ago (Kelvin Flats- they've pulled them down now) I think however that I could probably drive better than some of the drivers on the roads in the UK. I now live up in the lake district and I have just completed a three stage charity fundraiser for a childrens hospice up here, 1st stage was a blind drive (I had a driving instructor next to me in a dual control car) then I skied across lake Windemere on a dustbin lid then I was taken by Helicopter to Halifax where I drove a train (I am officially the only Blind Person in the world to drive a Train) but life is good. WOW.

I'm so glad that you made it out of that mess, Fuzzy. Most people aren't that lucky.

Believe it or not, the same thing happened to my mother once, except she rolled over 3 times.
She came out with only one scar. Thank god for seat belts!

Whoa, Fuzzy....thank goodness you got out of that in one piece. It sure would have been a horrifying few moments for you, and hopefully you won't experience/suffer any long or short-term repercussions from it.

Glad you're alright, Fuzzy. I've walked away from accidents that should have killed me as well. Cars and belongings can all be replaced, but not people. Glad you're still here to tell your story.
