Jump Formations

When jumping as a group, for the most part the game is reasonable enough. However, if you build up a large enough group (especially of capships) you can have some ships waaaay out of the gravity well that are still labeled as "clearing orbit". While I understand that they need to have the entire formation clear, some (better) approach should be found. (Especially since the reverse can be a huge problem when entering a system).

Anyone have any ideas?

It would be interesting to have that, but strategically speaking you would want your whole fleet there at once.

And I have the same problem as Ron Lugge, my fleets wait forever sometimes before jumping, its quite problematic and I have had many an invasion messed up because of it.

Formational options would also be quite interesting.

But if this is all moddable then I wouldnt see a problem, let the players pick and choose for themselves whether they want aesthetics or strategy.

Quickie solution is to wait for a good fraction of the fleet to be "waiting for formation" then double-right-clicking the move order. Functionally, it acts as a "jump now if you can!" button without leaving them free to jump individually to the next target because you forgot to reset it. And the (usually relatively few) stragglers left behind tend to get into formation a lot quicker, since they don't have to worry about not hitting any of their friends.

Oh, I have gotten arround the problem, its just that I think the logistics of the ships should be capable of doing so without irrating me.

Thanks for the advice though
