I would like to know also. It makes it easyer to test a beta when you have cheet codes so you can quickly get to the point you are trying to test. Sometimes you have to play for 6 hours to get to the test you want to make. In my opinion cheets ruin a games replayability but for the purposes of testing they are an invaluable aid.

at least be able to reveal the map so u can see what the AI is doing and reacting to your actions

Well a all research cheat.
Money/Resources cheat.
quick build/research cheat.
and a reveal all cheat would all be effective for testing purposes.

All the resource values are stored in the game in floats, so if you really need to cheat yourself lots of resources you can use a memory scanner like TSearch or similar to modify them.

[Edit: Don't expect that to work for multiplayer games, it can and WILL crash you out due to inconsistencies, and possibly the other players if you are hosting.]

there are no cheats for beta testers yet.

Though, i know the devs use a command consol for testing different things, aka "cheats"

Why do you need cheats? The AI right now is easy to beat. Even on hard settings. Im sure that will change. Unless you need them for modding purposes i see no point in cheats. Just ruins the game experience IMO.

Yeah, nothing is better then winning or lossing a normal well fought battle.

Though i see alot of interrest for cheats, so maybe let those who want to cheat, cheat?

But AFAIK there wont be any in the beta

We are talking for pure testing reasons... I agree for general enjoyment purposes cheats are bad, but a reveal amp at least would speed up a lot of testing issues

So there are none?

The 2 reasons i want cheats is so i can test every aspect of the game and the other reason is because i feel like it

Yea, i missed the testing purposes part, Sorry about that. I didnt have my morning coffee yet

Im sure there are developer codes you can use in the console, but dont know what they are. It will help when the time comes for modding.

ya because there is no point in modding something that can be edited with a in game code.

You can still open the savegame file and edit your capitals ships level. ( can put it past the Lv 10 limit).

I know I'd love a "see all" cheat simply to poke around with the "random" map generator and see if the flaws I've seen in my last two games are random chance, or "status quo". Not to mention getting a better "feel" for what the various custom map options do.

Well I guess this isn't technically a cheat but you can mod a saved game to "see all" of the map...sort of. Open one of your saved games (they should be in your ...\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\SavedGame) and have the planet pirates share vision w/ you. You can also do this w/ the other computer controlled players. I think the share vision option can be one sided (and independent of being allied) so that you stay hidden from enemy AIs...assuming they don't already "cheat". I'll try to post an example of a saved game where I've made these changes.
