Bounty bug?

First, let me state clearly that this is not to do with the AI spamming bounty. It is annoying, but I'm resigned to that fact for the moment

However, one thing I have found is that sometimes I get an alert about the bounty being raised on faction X

The message goes something like this:

The bounty on faction X has been raised by 500 to 0.

I've only ever seen it with the bounty being raised by 500. Anyone else noticed this?

Just checked through the other recent bounty raises, and I also had one that raised by 2000 to 1730.

Is it possible for the bounties to go negative??

hmm.. i rather guess it's because the message is not immediately (i.e. if you raise the bounty on someone it takes a few seconds after the last raise until the message comes) so it might have been raised to 2000, then a ship of that faction was killed, 270 bounty was rewarded and then the message played out, stating the now current bounty of 1730...

just a guess though...

Shivoc has it. There's a bit of a delay between the bounty purchase and the alert in order to catch additional purchases and lump them into one alert, but it also means the bounty can be awarded in that period too if a battle is already ongoing.

you mean there are ships that can give you 500 bounty? Havn't seen one of them yet . . .
