Pirates, Pirates, Everywhere!

I am guessing this is a design decision and not a bug, but does EVERY uninhabited planet have to have a pirate fleet guarding it? (This is based on about a dozen restarts since last night, so I may be unlucky).

It's gotten to the point that I feel I'm better off exploring with a capital ship than a scout. It would be nice if there were more that couldn't be colonized without the proper tech, or just not colonizable at all.

I'm also finding it impossible to create fleets, but for now I'll chalk that up to having to go back to the tutorials one more time.

One more thing: In the tutorials, ships traveled along phase lanes, but in the actual game they seem to be traveling along side them. A small point, but nonetheless annoying.

Not a bug, your scout ships can make it through most systems without dying, they cannot however just sit there. Click the scout, then look in the action panel in the lower right. There is an icon to have them auto-explore. Use that.

As above, scouts are not intended to stop in a system, but pass through so they can gather more information. I high suggest the auto-explore. In order to take a system, you will need your starting cap ship, or 5-7 frigates, or a combination of those.

Select all the ships you want in a fleet using whatever selection method you prefer. Hold down your ctrl key and press a number 0-9 on your keyboard. That puts all the units in the same fleet. Run through te tutorials as many times as you need to to understand them. They will increase your enjoyment exponentially.

What they mean is that there has to be a line connecting to location in order for your fleet to pass between them. They dont need to be directly on the "line". The line is just a graphical represention indicating where your ships are able to go. When they acctually attempt to move to that location, they need to exit the gravity well on the same side and in the same general vicinity of that line, but not necessarily right on top of it.

Hope this helps, if you have any more questions check back in with us.

If you lined up perfectly with phase lane you can travel along it if you like

After playing a few games of sins. You will need to send support ships
to attack the pirates. Four or five ships should be able to kill off
the pirates. So, you can take it over and start mining the resources.

I've reduced phase lane travel to 35% of the gravity well entrances and I like it a lot more, 45 was too much, 25 was too little.

QFT!

It also makes gauss cannons better at shooting at fleets that are just passing through. Since they can't just jump out where they've just jumped in if there is a phaselane near to the one they've jumped in.

Yeah, 35% gravity well entrance/exit space works very well.
