Can't see the tax rate bar or any bar in econmic screen

When I go into the econmic screen to change my tax rate I can't see the bar or the military, social or research bars. I also can't see any of the buttons next to the minimap or when a choice to choose if I'll be good, netural, or evil (when colonizing planets)i can't see the "check" boxes next to each. Can anyone help me please? This didn't happen the 1st time I stalled the game (when it came out) but when I re-installed it after I bought it yesturday it suddenly happened. I uninstalled then reinstalled hoping it would help but it didn't. Please help.

Did you by any chance pick black (or something very near it) as your race's color?

make sure that the color of your interface isn't black. I did that and could not see the sliders either. I felt dumb, but this solved my problem!

Oh but yes the background (I guess that's what you would call it) is black

Ok I am still having this problem. I don't know how to change the interface color. My race's color is mostly red I do think that 1 or 2 parts of it is black, but I am not 100% sure. (Yes I know how old this message is, I've just recently started playing Dark Avatar a lot again. lol)

It's in the race customization options when you start a new game. You can't change it once you've begun though.
