What exactly is the differance between setting a ship to Gaurd and Sentry?

Someone, please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe sentry intercepts any alien ships that come into range. Guard only intercepts ENEMY alien ships, or aliens you are currently at war with. Hope this helps.

Yes, but it doesn't intercept (at least not that I've seen), it just "wakes up".
