A moment of high weirdness

I was (and still am) playing a NORMAL difficulty game in a medium galaxy and noticed that ships from the different races were converging on one point on the map so I checked it out and found that each race was sending CONSTRUCTOR ships to the point where one of my starbases already sat.

After a short while there where more than a dozen ships for EACH alien race all parked in a ring around this starbase.

I imagine that there was some weird bug in the code that made all the alien AI see this resource as available somehow and they kept pouring out ships in an attempt to snag the location.

I did enjoy the eventual outbreak of war when I was able to fire on and destroy over 30 of these parked Constructor ships...

I noticed the same thing in my current game. Even AFTER the resource was depleted they kept about 15 constructor ships parked in a stack near my starbase. I thought this was unusual behavior too.

Did you really mean "depleted"? I resource should never go away. If it did vanish this is a bug.

The vanishing resource bug is one that existed in various stages of the beta test but I haven't seen it in a while.

Yes... it vanished, the graphic for the resource was no longer on the map.

I can't say whether or not the benefits went away or not.
