Desktop resets to default at start-up....please help

I recently downloaded the Alienware's AlienGUIse Theme Manager and everything was working fine until I changed my desktop wallpaper (The process I used to change this is start-control panel-display).

Upon reboot my chosen wallpaper is still there (a centered picture) however the color which surrounds the picture and fills my desktop continues to reset to the default blue windows color (instead of the black that I am selecting).

Does anyone know how I can fix this situation?

Thank you.

it's the window's blinds that's controlling the color scheme - which includes desktop color

2 basic options:

Use SkinStudio to edit the skin's control of the desktop color

or

open a graphics program - create a solid black wall your resolution size & then center your pic over that, then save it and apply it.

Thanks for the help Bichur. Im not too techie, thus don't really know what to do with the graphics program option you're talking about. The SkinStudio option seems easy enough. Do I need to download this? Also I never downloaded a program called Windows Blinds, is this part of the Alienware program?

Thanks.

alienware is using a licensed version of Stardock products - one of which is WindowBlinds (the app that changes how the browser or window looks.

what's your screen resolution and is the pic your using downloadable?

SkinStudio = Link

a lot more techie than creating a black wall with a centered pic

Bichur,

My screen resolution is 1024 x 768, and unfortunately the picture is not downloadable.

let's try simple:

I'll assume you're running xp and have paint

1) set your background with your black color and your pic

2) start > all programs > accessories > paint = open it an minimize it

3) right click the desktop > arrange icons by > uncheck 'show desktop icons

4) right click your task bar > properties > check 'auto hide the taskbar'

now, if everything is off your desktop - nothing showing but the background and the mouse... move the mouse all the way to the right edge so it's out of sight.. then press the print screen key (usually to the right of F12 - may be labeled prt scr)

move your mouse down to the taskbar and it will pop up, open paint, click 'edit' > 'paste' and your screen shot should paste in - the 'file' > save as' = give it a name, make it a jpeg, save it to your desktop

use that pic as your wall and your background color won't change anymore
