Very bad scrolling

Why does the starmap seem so slow and choppy when I play Dread Lords? My computer is brand new yet acts really dumb on the starmap. My ships don't move smoothly. What should I do?

Post your debug.err info. The file is located in the main program folder (usually C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2) and can be opened with Notepad.
Select everything, then copy and paste into the reply.

Chances are you're running Vista, in which case the issue is due to the minimap drawing slowly (2D drawing acceleration was removed in Vista...). The devs are currently working on porting the fix for this that was made in DA back to DL. Until that's done, you can scroll normally if you minimize the UI panel with the little button above the minimap.
