Zen Center

With palms together,
Good Morning All,
This morning I can feel the muscles in my legs. They are tight and tingly. Too much exercise; not enough rest. So, today I'll 'rest' my muscles and enjoy the company of fellow Zen students at Zen Center.
Going to a Zen Center can be intimidating. First off, they are not all that common and not that many people have actually gone to one. Many have tried meditation, read books on the subject, but never set butt on a zafu in a Zendo.
Get over it. A Zendo is just a room with cushions, an alter, and people who aren't allowed to talk to you.
We sit facing a wall after chanting two short prayers. The Leader gives instruction to those who have not done the practice before. And after the meditation, tea is often served and the priest offers a talk on the dharma. This is typically short and to the point. Rarely is there a "sermon" in the sense most experience sermons.
And then we go on our way.
It is a refreshing opportunity, a challenging opportunity, to get to know yourself directly and without outside comment.
So, that's what I'm doing this morning.
See ya!
Be well.
