With palms together,
Good Morning Everyone,
Thank you for reading my posts. Sometimes they are rather off the wall, I know. Yet, "off the wall" is a little like off the map. When we are in new and different territory it seems our senses sharpen, our mind opens, and we are more susceptible to discovery.
Sometimes I think we keep our thoughts and beliefs much too long. I wonder what the shelf life of "what we know" is? When we open our mind and sort through the things contained there, are there moldy memories? Memories that slime us from the inside out?
I believe there are.
Our practice of zazen, our disciplined spiritual practice, is there to help us with that. Our zazen defrosts the freezer, cleans out the refrigerator, and brings fresh air to our sense organs. No need for baking soda. The world, as it is, if quite refreshing and stimulating. But we must be willing to experience it as it is, not as we wish it were, think it is, or believe it will be.
When we rely on scripture, regardless of its source, we avoid the Infinite right here, right now. The Universe is in our each and every breath. As we experience ourselves in zazen, we touch the Infinite in our every touch, taste, scent, sound. and thought. No need for a book or scroll.
Be in touch.
Be well.
