Super-duper Feedback

GREAT game. I can play it for hours upon hours it's so fun. I love bombing planets with 10 or so siege frigates, the looks and sounds are truly amazing. I also love how the camera now shakes when a ship is destroyed, it adds mountains to the atmosphere.

Suggestions/Problems
1. The cool robot ships are chasing my damaged trade ships down because auto-use repair is on, even passing through phase jumps to do so. I really need these guys to stay with my fleet and not wander off like that, and if I turn auto-repair off I will probably forget and send them into battle. Perhaps making sure they only repair military vessels, not civilian ones.

2. I find myself not using the empire screen very much, even though it is a powerful tool. It would help if selecting a planet on the map or icon in the empire screen automatically expanded it, so I don't have to click the little arrows.

3. I think pirates should relax if bounty = 0. Also, I often get attacked because I have a phase jump inhibitor in a sector they just want to pass through. Kind of discourages their use.

4. So far, it seems the key to winning the game is simply securing one or two more planet resources than the other guys. If the AI teamed up against the bigger empires more, it would make it a lot more challenging. Also, the AI should put a price on your head for being stronger than them, not just if you attack them. Otherwise, the bounty stays small no matter how much you conquer.

I know you guys are always working hard on the AI and the gameplay, and I can't wait to see how Sins will continue to evolve. I am also anxious to see the other two races, and multiplayer. Keep up the good work Ironclad and Stardock

ok, enough.
sorry bootleg, I'm about to scapegoat you for something that has been going on for FAR too long.
guys: quit it with the "pay attention to me" threads, if you have feedback that pertains to the game, stick it in either the gameplay feedback thread, the technical feedback thread, or in a thread specific to one important topic.
its not so much that I have an issue with people grabbing at attention like this, but it completely RUINS any chance at having a coherent discussion about the game because every few hours there is another THREAD about it.

again, I apologize boot, you are but the straw that broke the camel's back.

Im sure Ironclad will read them too

Its just the first week or 2 theres so much

hey bootleg, welcome to Sins, and thanks for the feedback. we appreciate it all, even if Schem doesn't like the new threads (I think he's trying to cut back to 50 posts a day )

yeah exactly multi, another week or so and the tons of feed back will be back to 10 threads or so a day, anyway its good reading , and I like to see the different opinions being voiced.

I on the other hand do try to answer every thread...

a quick glance at just a small section of the threads reveals a stunning 20+ individual threads. I'm sorry that I'm frustrated with it, but its counterproductive and really annoying to sift through.

which is why I'm attacking the general forumite public rather than just bootleg here.

I'll humor you though.

agree completely, I think there should be several such upgrades to key components, for instance a "use only if AM is above half" gradation, etc.
2. I find myself not using the empire screen very much, even though it is a powerful tool. It would help if selecting a planet on the map or icon in the empire screen automatically expanded it, so I don't have to click the little arrows.

it takes some getting used to, I'll admit, but once you learn to use it its quite a powerful tool.
although I believe it should be minimized until I deem nescessary, it takes up a stunning 20% of my visual screen.
I think pirates should relax if bounty = 0

more agreeing.
Also, I often get attacked because I have a phase jump inhibitor in a sector they just want to pass through. Kind of discourages their use.

its why I wait with them until the general solar system has stabalized to mostly AI.

its perhaps the greatest fallback in the current dual-limit system.

I wouldnt have to if people didnt do this.
I swear, theres been times where I have to reitterate something 5, 6 times over for people to finally hear.

I am confused. The forum is called "Beta feedback" and we are not supposed to give feedback here? Then why the forum?

I would suggest if one has one or two observations then post into those "important" threads, otherwise post as separate.

yes, but people could at least put effort into making sure that messages about capital ships gets put into a "capital shipS!" thread, and data about balance go into "gameplay feedback"

if everyone had their own designated thread (no wait... if is the wrong word) things get chaotic.
I for one never created a thread that said "heres what I have to think," why? because its completely inefficient.

when everyone talks and no one listens, nothing gets done.

I am not sure that it is inefficient. I would guess that Ironclad and SD guys have their own lists, and they just randomly pull ideas from the threads, when they see something useful.
Plus I would prefer first discuss ideas separately, and only then move them into those more official lists.

kyro comes around and cleans up the threads and makes a daily feedback thread, that way nothing of true importance is missed, and noting is double posted....

check in the morning for his daily feedback roundup!

Heh.

I actually -personally- would prefer if people put their feedback in single-topic threads, be they preexisting ones, or new ones (yes, it's actually easier to handle more single-topic threads than it is fewer multi-topic threads), or if they put their feedback in the stickied feedback threads.

Either case makes the job of rounding up posts much easier, consequently increasing the chance of your comments being heard. Multi-topic threads are hard to summarize effectively, and may find themselves relegated to the 'unsorted' section of the roundup as a result.

hardly.
I see valuable info backed up in these various threads completely lost to the devs, and it frustrates me.
there are ideas completely out of the devs reach because its not organized.
I am not sure that it is inefficient

let me give you the analogy here:
these threads are like a bunch of 30+ kids nagging at the feet of a couple adults. this isnt a intelligible forum of discussion, its an attention seeking free-for-all
and it doesnt help that this is whats going into the game. as amazing as the game is already, its going to take a lot of creative thinking to iron out the bugs that plague this new game concept. half that thinking is lost on these random threads.

Sorry, I don't visit forums very often and might be a little rusty on the etiquette.

bootleg, its not something that I would concern yourself with. you did nothing wrong.
I have the issue with the forumites who have been here for AGES and have 5+ threads dedicated only to their feedback.
