Capital Ship Yard(s).... Maybe?

So far since Beta 2 started I've seen no reason to build more than 1 Capital ship yard. I think that perhaps for some of the capital ships like the Dreadnought and the Carrier, 2 maybe even 3 ship yards should be needed at the planet. It creates a feeling that the planet is a powerhouse, ( so perhaps capital ship yards should only be at the Capital Planets?)

Or instead of 2-3 capital ship yards at a planet, make the ship yard upgradible, and each time it upgrades it gets larger and is able to build a different capital ship in addition to the 1 or 2 ships it could start off with.

It would also be cool if the ship under construction could dock with the ship yard say after the superstructure was built until it was finished building.

As it stands now , you only need 1 ship yard to build any of the 5 capital ships.

Also the cruisers should have their own ship facility.

Anyone else feel this way?

I think the capital ship yard should be able to be built at any planet, if you can build it only at a cap planet then it might be a slow journey to where you need them, especially with systems with two or more stars, once the generator is tweaked then cap ship placement as well as light ship factory placement could be more important

as for upgrading the yard, not sure about that, as all the cap ships serve different functions, but not really tested many of them, I suppose it could be upgradable if the price was reasonable, but until crystal resources are tweaked, I would leave it as it is

Make it bigger.

in the end after matthewfarmerys comments I'd agree with Inert, lol... forget about it being tied to any one planet, and forget the need for more than 1.

MAKE IT BIGGER!

MAKE IT BIGGER!

I think every stations with the exception of Guass Platform need to be a little bigger to ALOT bigger.

If we get enough people to ask for it bigger Ironclad will listen, the KOL ships in beta2 are 20% bigger than they were in beta1.

But still 30% wimpy looking.

lol.. how big do you want it? I prefer smaller and functional...

Look at the Super Star Destroyer (episode 6), it was huge and while super powerful, it wasn't very useful, and got taken down by a single out of control fighter

Bigger? It's huge already.

I like the model sizes as they are, if you make them bigger they may start to look wrong beside a planet model, then people will start asking for planets to be increased, and the cycle continues,

Next thing you know everything will be upsized so much only 5 planets will fit on the map The scales are fine the way they are. Leave em alone.

I am in agreement about the separate yard for cruisers, and cap ships at least the Kol and Marza should need to be researched before you can build them since according to the lore the Kol is "supposed" to be the newest ship design TEC has.

Let me clarify , when I say make it bigger, not by increasing the size of the existing structure, but rather adding on a support bay or maybe some offices =p Where do all the workers live?

hmm never thought of that,

yup make it a bit bigger but not too much, yeah add a support structure onto it, doesn't have to be too big, but big enough to be realistic

This is what a capital ship yard to me looks like, now I want that in SPACE .....

The capital shipyards have a couple dormitories projecting off from either side, thats what the booms are for.

We are certainly listening to everything The problem with scaling modules (and ships for that matter) is we have limited screen space. When a module increases in size, the planet/asteroids look too small. When those are increased there isn't enough playing space on the screen. Unlike games like X3 or EVE, our planets are interactive, not just background objects. This means they need to be a managable size within your playing distance. It's a difficult balancing act, but we will do our best to scale when reasonable.

I guess you are right... But it could be a little bigger, come on , you know you wanna add on a little building or two more

I'm of the opinion that CSY should only be built at fully developed first tier planets. This is so because they represent a considerable investment of empire resources and such projects using conventional wisdom would not be developed in many places and in out of the way and nominal areas.
