How do I make a desktop preview?

I am a newbie, so bear with me here! I was hoping someone could tell me how to make a preview of my desktop.... because I can't figure it out

Just press ctrl + prt scrn on your keyboard, then open paint or some other graphics software and paste it in, save it as .jpg and upload it. All there is to it.
