Download 1.6 for my computer without internet access

Sorry about this, can't find instructions anywhere. I've bought Dark Avatar, and downloaded it to my work computer, but I'm not sure how to get it to my computer at home where I can actually play it. Is there a zip file or similar?

You can use the archive feature within SDC to make a archive file to transfer to your other PC. Just select GC2 and then from the File menu, select Archive.

Right click on DA in SDC, and choose Archive Application->Selected Application. You'll want to do the same for GC2 as DA requires v1.5 of that to work.

After that's done, go to C:\Program Files\Stardock\Stardock Central\BACKUP in windows explorer, and copy the .sdc files there for GC2 and DA to portable media (USB drive, CDR, DVDR, etc). You'll also want to grab the latest SDC installer so you can install SDC at home, this is available via the downloads page if you don't have it handy still.

Once you get it home, install SDC then double-click the .sdc archives in explorer to unpack them. If you have no internet at all at home rather than just a slow connection that made it impractical to download the whole game, it'll take another trip back to work and home to activate the game by the following process (if you have dialup or something at home, just connect then run the game and enter your email address+serial as prompted and you should be set).

To activate the game on a computer that is not connected, follow these steps:

1) Start the game; you will get a prompt for your serial and email. Provide them and continue.
2) It will fail to activate and ask if you'd like to activate by email. Click Yes.
3) Copy the subject line and big block of letters into a text file, or into your email program, and save it off to portable media (CDR, USB drive, floppy, etc).
4) Take it to a web-connected PC and send an email to [email protected] with that subject line and content.
5) You should receive a reply with a file and some instructions; take the file back to the non-connected PC and you should be set to go.
