Retail update and registration failure

I reinstalled a previously working version on of Gallactic Civ after reinstalling windows. I logged onto my account and re-registered the product id so I could download the retail update. I downloaded and installed with no problem. Now when I go to start the game, I get this message:

"The producte appears to be validated but the serial number or machine SID do not match"

My serial number is correct, right off the jewel case. What am I missing?

Simply delete the file sig.bin from the game's directory and reactivate (activations are only good on the same install of windows they are done on).

Have you reinstalled GC2 in the same directory than before? If so, it is possible that you have an older sig.bin file. You should delete the sig.bin file in the Galciv directory and try to restart the game.
