Planet Attributes ?

I only got a few minutes to play so far, but one thing I noticed: All planets always have the same amount of production and research (everything is either low or high). The one and only attribute they got is the class. So there are no mineral rich unfriendly worlds that make great production centers but are otherwise problematic? No lush garden centers that can support huge populations but have weak industry? I find that kind of lacking... Just like I loved the many different planet qualities in MoO2, I loved the way you could place your cities optimally near certain resources in Civ to make it either a production center, research center or population center. In Galciv there don't seem to be too much individuality to planets which I think is really sad. Please correct me if I am wrong, I have only seen some 15 planets so far. But the pattern seemed so obvious...

There are many different classes of planets. I have seen some up to 26. Different star system also have varying amounts of influence.

I think they just simplified the mineral/lush richness with an overall planet rating..the higher it is the more production/population you'll get out of it. Although I kinda wish the planets did have a little more variety and information given to them like atmosphere and special attributes(very tall mountains, a gigantic tornado, deep valleys, ect..). Not a big deal though.

Special planet features are added as events. When you colonise a planet there is a random chance that an event will occur where you choose your civiliations action (thus setting your moral). The event often changes some aspect of the planet, such as extra production, extra research, extra planet quality, extra moral. Think of these in terms or Rich, Artifacts, Fertile and you'll see that the planet diversity is indeed there.

You can also get negative attributes to the planets production, research etc.
Obviously Paul likes to be evil, though. ;)

I tend to always choose the evil option when planet quality is the issue. It's just too useful!
