Good Bye Forums

It hasn't been fun

About every 6 months, I try to come to the forums and be a part of the community. Been doing it for about the last 5 years.
But the same thing happens every time. I make a comment and someone will critique, add to, take it the wrong way or just state the obvious about something I've said.
I've even tried to help people and there will always be other people that will come in and just totally rip what advice I give. Some people think it's fun to give little jabs. I'm not the only one this happens to, I'm just the one going away. It's not worth it anymore. I haven't given up just don't need the BS anymore.

This isn't a pitty party. I'm just letting everyone know that I won't be around the forums. If anyone would like help or advice, they can contact me.
If I have an announcement I'll post but that will be about it.

I know this will hurt my chances of moving up in the ranks here at Wincustomize, but it's the price I'll have to pay. No one else.
I guess I'm not a people person cause the forums are just not for me.
Now, please, have fun picking this apart....

Gonna miss you. One of the best to come along. Just take a break instead, o.k?

I agree with you Z71.

I have had to do the same thing on a few occasions where I get into the forum scene and I just get incredibly frustrated with pettiness and such.

I do feel it's gotten a LOT better in recent months than it had been for awhile though. But I still know exactly what you mean.

Z71 I have read the some of those posts & I agree with you. As frogboy said it has gotten alot better but your most recent post & the petty attack you received does show that there is still a problem. And you even included the winky face....after having read the post how words do not come across & it was suggested that you...we make sure to use them more.
It is a sad day to see a talented person leave a place he or she should be able to call home.

IMHO there is a partial solution....Remember that we now have pm s After reading a post you could contact the person via pm & or e-mail and avoid the responses directly in the forums. Not sure how viable that is, just a thought of how you can still be part of helping others & just maybe not lose your opportunity to move up in the ranks.

Sorry you feel that way.
I try never to let others dictate my actions. I just ignore those that deserve the kill-filter. Doesn't always work though. Every once in a while someone pushes the right button.

If you need help beta-testing skins or anything else let me know.

Take care Ross

that's sad people can't be kind with others and can't dialog together without bash others. I agree with MySecret Pm are a good solution and if that doesn't run pm to a mod
My way in this sort of problems one answer two if people still continue just ignore and go on an other tread

Thats true, even the most laid back person has that button though it is much smaller than others.
I don't think you should stay out of the Forums because of it. I look at it this way, They are just words.(Period)

Yep, that's true.

It isn't the easiest thing in the world to magically convince people NOT to be arseholes ALL the time...and not come out looking like some 'Fascist/elitist/nazi/Commie bastard' [I get called all of those...as do the other admin/mods],

But....it's getting better, as more and more people are learning to ignore the serial twits and just 'get along' with those who matter [to them].

The site is huge....the community is transient...sometimes it all gets a bit silly...but it's easy for most to avoid.

Some of us, unfortunately are obliged to suffer the fools....

I don't know what to say it wont be the same around here , but don't forget to pop in from time to time .

z71, I've read the responses thus far and it would be evident that we don't want you to leave the forums. I agree with what seldomseen said above, just take a break. You're a great wb skinner, one of the best for sure and it's seems that losing your participation in the forums wouldn't be a good thing. I look forward to reading what an experienced skinner has to say on various topics. Human nature dictates that there will be times when people will not understand each other, disagree with each other and have different opinions on various topics but don't make that the reason to leave. My advice would be to ignore those that bother you and leave it at that. If you need someone to say it, I'll say it, don't go. It's getting sad when we have issues in a online community which force people to think they have to leave and no longer participate for fear of persecution/being attacked for opinions.

btw..., i know and i could call some names in here of those people who make that kind of useless comments, but i wont..., it's not fair at all what u are doing...

Hope you just decide to take a break also. You've contributed a lot and certainly have a great deal more to offer.

Some people don't think before they post and then there are always those who just like to be asinine for no good reason. Simply sad.

Anyway Best wishes.

Hang in, Ross. We really need the elder statesmen and longtime talent.

Ross, you were my very first teacher, (remember when you took me under your wing at the gui champs and had a nervous breakdown trying to help me?  )  ...i dont want you to go..:'(

Well...my 2 cents: I've enjoyed your talent and your observations. If you'd like, I'll try to pick it apart...give me some kind of hint, though....as in where to start. It seems I don't know enough to argue with anyone here....so I'll agree! Water on duck's backs, 'just words', "slings and arrows", pecked to death. These all seem to be the fate of leaders, or talented people. I believe and feel it comes from envy/jealousy and maybe a dash of dumb thrown into the stew.

Anyhoot, Z71/Ross, perhaps I can add a skoshi of 'Tincture of Time'....a balm which cures all wounds.

Feel better soon!

Z71, I hope you've been reading all of this so far, it would sound as if you have a bit of skinning community in your corner asking you to hang in there....

I will miss you  You have so much to offer this community. But I also know that words can hurt and understand how you feel. I read the forums all the time but rarely comment because they become degraded sometimes very quickly. Hopefully after some time away you will return.

I've read all the comments. It's good to know I'm not the only one in the boat. It's appreciated. I'm not completely going away. I'll pop in from time to time and if someone needs help, I'll PM them or email them. Some very good advice given. I thank you.
For an interesting day, keep reading......

You ever have one of those days? This is a true story. I can prove every bit of it.

The power went off Thursday night so my alarm clock didn't go off and I "was" going to be (two) hours late for work. Half way there, I threw a rod in my pick-up. Took 3 hours to call a tow truck, take it some where to have someone look at it and get to work.
Come home, wash some close and the washer over flows. Now I have water damage in the back of the house. After cleaning all that up, I decide to mow the lawn and one of my gas lines has a hole in it. Lost atleast a gallon of gas (it was everywhere). Fix it, start to mow and 10 min. into it, I catch a rock and it hits the house, flies up and cuts a 3 inch gash in my leg. (For some reason, everything was flowing that day). Should have gotten stitches, but I'm a guy. I'll tough it out.
While I was mowing, one of my dogs got out of the pen and it took over an hour to find her.

So I final get everything done and come inside to rest. At this point I'm seeing red. I'm just feed up. The only thing that would cheer me up is if I won the lottery.
I start to doze off and the phone rings. I tell myself, "What now?". It's an old skinning client, from over a year ago, that has a major project for me and they need my services.
You guessed it, I passed out........

TYCUS.. I don't think anyone was intentionally trying to make you look bad (I can definately say that about my particular post), looks to me like some folks having a little giggle.. helps a lot of us through the day and you really shouldn't take these things so personally. If I could have offered help or an explanation to your problem I certainly would have. I had none and my comment "things that make you go hmm" basically meant.. hmmm I wonder whats causing that?? You took it wrong and.. it seems.. also.. personally. It wasn't.

Almost. Every. Day. [lol!]
I find myself leaning on the bathroom sink, staring into the bloodshot eyes in the mirror, mumbling "I can do this...I can."
Hope your leg's cool. Nice when clients come back again, I know well. Esp. when the bills are due and I'm moving one acct. to another, trying to cover.
Heard once, "For everyone else the birds sing...for me they s__t!"

x, don't say that - no one hates you

That's the problem with people, they can't take criticism. They get offended if you speak your mind and then they call you names. Americans are probably the worst for not being able to take any criticism. It's too bad that people like that have chased you off of these forums. Best of luck to you.

Thats not true at all...if its given in the spirit of helping someone then it serves a purpose...
Saying this looks like shit isnt helping anyone.

Z71...for whats its worth..your blinds were once the only ones Id use. Yours and Brewmans. To me , I am not into the bells and whistles. If I can't actually use the blind then its not my cup of tea. Im hoping you will find time to update some of my old favourites.

Good story to start my day, after your day - mine can't be any worse..

x_days_X: I know what you mean Z71, just about everyone here hates me

Now thats just plain silly, no one 'hates' you...but,tossing that comment on this thread is just not the way to go either...
