Windows Vista: 100 Days, 40 Million Sold

Say what you like about Windows Vista, how you'd never install it on your box, how it's too expensive, too bloated or too under-supported to succeed in the marketplace.  Rant and rave and wave your Linux flag, or Windows XP flag, or heck even your old BeOS flag if you've still got it.  Because, according to Bill Gates' speech at WinHEC yesterday, the naysayers don't appear to matter.  In the first 100 days of Windows Vista's general availability, Microsoft sold over 40 million licenses (1 license = 1 install typically) for the new OS.

Of the 40 million sold, roughly 78%, or around 31 million, were Home Premium licenses.

Currently, Windows Vista accounts for nearly 14% of WinCustomize's weekly traffic.

plus i heard if you got vista your printer wont work anymore (you have to upgrade or something)....(i love my printer) someone tell me if thats wrong please...filthy rumours always seem to swing my way.........

I have a Canon i960 inkjet printer, and Canon CanoScan N670U scanner...they both work fine with Vista Home Premium. I was surprised at how quickly Canon came out with Vista updates for many of their older products. But they work.

I've got a copy of Vista in the drawer next to me... But the closest you'll see it to being on my PC is it sitting next to my monitor as a coaster.

Tried it,hated it(and I was really wanting to like it)

Navigation in Vista is a step backwards and where the f**k are my toolbars and tabs?!

Clean install was about 60,000 files!

Tell ya wot, if I send ya a box of pretty looking coasters to replace it, can I have your very ordinary looking Vista one? Oh, and what flavour is it, BTW? Cos if it's just Vista Home Basic, a fair swap would be a six pack of fairly ordinary looking coasters.

im still paying off this pc i got a year ago...cant even think about vista upgrade..plus i heard if you got vista your printer wont work anymore (you have to upgrade or something)....(i love my printer) someone tell me if thats wrong please...filthy rumours always seem to swing my way.........

My Canon Pixma ip4000 works fine with Vista.
It'd all depend whether the company producing the printer bother to offer a driver compatible with Vista. Vista itself will not refuse the printer.

Kitty, most big brand printers are supported by Vista's native drivers, so there's a good chance your printer would have the basic functions. Some manufacturers, however, have updated their drivers & software packages to be Vista compatible, so it may be worth checking your manufacturers home page to see if yours is one of them.

I recently upgraded my old HP psc 1210 3-in-1 to the newer HP C4180 3-in-1, and whilst the drivers/software on the accompanying disc would not install in Vista, the entire package is available for download from their homepage & is fully functional.

I hated Vista, until i took a few weeks to play with it. Like I said, it's apretty XP. I, honestly haven't had any problems. It did take a little getting used to, but now I wouldn't go back to XP.

Well I got it after all: VISTA

Have to say it is a, Love it, Hate it, relationship.
Like how it looks. but don't like some of the new layout

and that stupid DeskScapes, Like it but, have to put a wallpaper on before Turning off the PC.. or I play hell trying to do ANY thing Freezes, goes to a solid Blue Wallpaper.
I think that it is Conflicting with DreamScapes.
but like i said If I put a Wallpaper on before turning off the PC it runs Smooth for the most part.

oh and what is up with all the extra Processes I had 42 after installing Vista with no programs installed.

and Task Manager Is a HOG consuming 23% to 47% of CPU XP Pro NEVER went over 12% and I was B itch ing about XP Pro with 22 Processes running with all my programs installed.

I have my taskbar to AutoHide and every now n' then it Flickers up and down...
