the hospital diaries

hello all, well i am here laying in my bed minus a bit .
surgery went well, so far no sign of any infection but the pain is pretty intense.
doctor just visited and said everything is looking good and if everything goes well i may be able to go home within 2 weeks. god i hope so i am bored already and do you have any idea how hard it is to find an empty phone socket so i can plus my modem in
had a look at the gallerieds this morning and noticed that more windowblinds have come up in the last week and a half than all the last month together lol, it's all a conspiracy against me isn't it . anyway it gives me something to do while laying in my bed not being able to go outside for a smoke, time to give em up i think i haven't had a smoke in a few days. finally able to eat a full meal without bringing it straight back up and i am sad because there are good lookin nurses and i can't chase any of them. anyway more updates to come , thanks to everyone for your support it is appreciated more than you can imagine.

Good to hear from you! Sounds like you've got a good case of "cabin fever". Happens around here every spring, after hibernating all winter. Grab all the meds you can and a couple of those nurses, get some wheels under you, and run for it!

It's good to hear that all went well and you could be home in a couple of weeks. It sounds like you're in reasonably good spirits, and that's great cos it's the key to a speedier recovery.

As for the boredom, I know exactly what you mean...spent 3 years in the Ipswich hospital after an accident which almost took my right leg, and I too got the screaming ab-dabs wondering what to do with myself every day....and that was well before the advent of PC's, let alone lap-tops.

i am sad because there are good lookin nurses and i can't chase any of them.

Ah!! Now that's where you get cunning (listen to someone who knows/had 3 years to perfect it). What you do is call out 'nurse...nurse...nurse' and when they're standing beside your bed, you lower your voice so they have to come closer. Once they're within hugging range you give 'em a sob story about how miserable/lonely you feel, and once you've got their undivided attention you sneakily latch on for a cuddle.

Anyhow, cobber, take care, keep up the good spirit and be home soon.

Hey Nimbin ...glad to see your spirits are up there again mate!

Grab a hospital wheelchair when you can, and 'accidentally' bump into the back of the cutest nurse.

...Then hold on for dear life.

Keep smiling, and hope to see you back soon!

I'm not sure if I should be replying here as I don't know you Nimbin, but I just wanted to wish you the very best of luck.
My Aunt lost her right leg below the knee several years ago.She has since gone on to raise three children and amazingly completed her umteenth parachute jump for charity last year. From your post you strike me as a truly optimistic and brave fella with a great wit, and from my experience with my Aunt there is nothing that can't be acheived (even giving up smoking   ).
For you I reckon the glass is definately half full.
Good luck and a hasty recovery.Peace.

PS If I mail you my contact details can you get me e few nurses telephone numbers please.

Glad your nurses are female at least...mine at the VA were men...went in fro a heart procedure and they went in thru the groin(4 catheters)...knew my luck wasnt that good so I shaved me nether regions the night before.

Once up on the table,a male nurse unceremoniously grabbed my unders and jerked them down...his suprised look was funny and my relief at not being shaved by a man was extreme.

Got a comfy chair all warmed up fer you here...good to see you.

Looks like my fears were unfounded..and that makes my day. Looking forward to seeing you doing well and released from your purgatory ASAP. Meanwhile..I always found cash very useful in getting the nurses to....

Welcome Back!!

Never parted with a cent....ever! starkers was so popular with the nurses at the Ipswich hospital, they used to let him in through the (exit only) fire doors at the rear of the nurses quarters so he wasn't seen by matron going in the front door.

Well!!! I told you's I got the screaming abdabs trying to occupy myself for 3 years. I mean, what else was there for a 19 yo bloke who was incarcerated in a hospital full of gorgeous nurses and no PC?

Anyhow, Nimbin, here's hoping every day is getting better and better for you, that you're able to go home soon....all the best to ya, starkers.

Missed this post till just now.

Hope you have a speedy recovery and rehab.

Stay away from the smokes. Once you've gone 3 days without, the worst is over. Now you just have to find something to keep your hands busy. I'd suggest nurses unless your married
