Getting frustrated with the install.

Ok, it's late and I am getting mad. I installed Galactic Civ, then the Media pack. Both said they installed ok. I can play the game but all events still have blank areas where the animation from the mdeia pack should go. Also whenever I try to install the bonus pack I get an error.

Loading: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\temp\gc1.xml
Result: Success
Extract File: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\temp\Base\Data\invasiontactics\CoreTactics.InvTacti_
Result: Failed (file not found)
Installation aborted (failed)

I think ill just buy this on CD ROM tomorrow as that will be so much easier. Also, how do you install to another directory?

Ah ok.
Well, you could always try the single file download on the download-page. But it sure would be nice to get SDC to do the job...

What if you delete the C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\temp\gc1.xml, do a Tools->Refresh application data and try again?

Might also considering clearing all files in that temp-dir but it means redownloading all you havent installed...

Suggestion:

Go to: http://www.stardock.com/support.asp

But in your email address and just download the retail installer. In the morning, it'll hae downloaded and then you don't have to futz with the worrying about the multimedia and such. ;)

I saw exactly the same error message as the original poster. I don't have a beta (although I do have GalCiv for OS/2 lying around ;)). Don't know which RC of SDC that I've got, the procedure I used was download archives and then restore from archive (GalCiv, the media, then bonuspack, then manual). The bonuspack and the manual gave the error message.

To work around this, I uninstalled Galciv, then installed base game and media from archive. Then did install from web for bonuspack which completed without errors. However, playing the game there's no sound, movies etc :(

I'll download SDC again and re-try. Do I need to re-download the base game and media or is it only the latest RC of SDC that I need?
