That's something I just don't get about the moderation of WP's.  Pets never make the cut.  Fractals out the wazoo, abstract swirls and beams of color galore, but domestic animals are a no go.  It's one of life's mysteries that I'll just never understand I guess.

Yeah, but it's cool Karen, I use to make screensavers for mobile phones, and I made one of Bop [the cat] saying 'Meow Off', and about 5000 people downloaded it, well that was a couple years back, I wouldn't know how many now, but I know my lil Bop-girl is a little bit famous  the weird thing is, I never thought anyone would download it

Pictures of pets and things of that sort, usually fall under being a personal picture and not so much a wallpaper.

 

I don't think it's cool.  It's much harder to find pet (i.e., breed type) wallpaper than it is to find abstract or fractal type wallpaper.  People like pet-related stuff.  Go to the grocery store and stand in line at the check out and you'll find at least 2 people ahead of you in line with keychains sporting the type or breed of their pet.  Drive down the road, and you'll find a bunch of people proud enough to have "I   my *pet type/breed*" on their bumper.

I suppose if they allowed pets in the WP gallery, people would get enraged if their stuff didn't make it, because we are crazy about our pets, as if they were our very children.  I guess I'm just being a contrarian and I'm tired of the same-old, same-old abstract stuff I see in the Wallpaper Forum.  (Pay no attention to me....I have alternative tastes when it comes to desktops).

I can understand ID, as I can imagine how many personal shots of people's pets would be submitted lol but I understand your point as well Karen, some folks actually might be looking for a certain breed.. IE.. my cat in that pic is a Manx, though you can't see her tail,.... DOH, she doesn't HAVE a tail

I'm just happy she's somewhere and people can download her if they want to

Sure, if they know its there, and they know how to find your personal page.  If they try searching for it by common words like "cat" or "pet" they'll never find it (kinda like scoring illegal substances...you have to know somebody.) 

Not a big deal really...I just have a difference of opinion when it comes to what should be public in WP, and I realize that there has been a change over the years on what constitutes gallery worthy, and at the present time it's pretty narrow.

Of course it would've been nice to have her in the main WP gallery, but folks know I dig cats, they might look in my gallery and find the little Minx Manx

So, I guess I'll be joining the Personal Page Elite with my recent submission - it seems things have changed since I last submitted a wall (Spiral Dimension), it just got sent to the Wallpapers gallery after moderation. I think I've improved a lot since then with this, but who am I to say. I suppose there are probably a lot more submissions nowadays.

 

Also: No idea why I made two accounts here, Jan/August 2005, respectively. They're both me, fyi.

If I ever had the courage to submit a skin/wall...(anything at all, really)....I'm pretty sure I'd receive the following:

What actually happens to something you have uploaded, has been put on a gallery page and in your PPG but is now gone.  Is it back in moderation or just gone.  If it's not accepatable for the galleries isn't it suppose to stay on your personal site?  As a beginner I am just confused.

The more submissions into a single gallery, the more impressive the submission has to be to make it to the public gallery... It's makes sense really. I don't understand how my Kernel Message bootskin could NOT be up to standard... I've used it since I made it.
