With palms together,
Good Morning Everyone,
Yesterday afternoon was a very sobering experience. We participated in Las Cruces' Holocaust Memorial service at Temple Beth-El.
The service was very thoughtful and thought-provoking. Several local clergy offered their views on the holocaust and its meaning for us today. The president of NMSU offered the main speech. He was a powerful and articulate speaker who drew our attention to the fact that we have not, as a species, learned our lesson about ourselves. He felt we should be outraged at this.
Personally, I would rather translate that outrage into engagement. I would urge each of us to become involved in our world, locally, as well as nationally.. .even internationally. Whether we like it or believe it, we are one world and it is up to us to find ways of living together in healthy and peaceful ways.
If you have some ideas on how to do this, please feel free to post them back to me.
Be well.
