Recent Posts?

On the galciv2 home page, along the left hand side is a box for "Recent Posts". This usually had the 10 most recent posts listed. For the last week or so, this box is always blank. To get a lit of the posts I have to click on "Everything" under Forum links.

Is this a known problem, or just an error for me with my browser settings?

It appears to have been broken with the new forum build posted last week. I've notified the web devs.

I haven't really noticed. I assume you're talking about the Forum Links box that currently contains; Everything, Game Talk, Support & Bugs, Modding, and, Metaverse Talk. I think at one time it did have a link for Recent Posts but I don't see one now.

However, you can still get to the same display by a different method and that is to click on the Forums button which brings you to a list of all the forums on the top and (about 10) recent posts at the bottom. There's also a link at the bottom of the page to More Recent Posts that continue the list.

The problem with hitting the Everything link is that you won't see everything, you'll only see posts in the GalCiv II category. This exculdes posts in a lot of catagories including; Metaverse, Off-Topic and GalCiv Dev Journals among many others (Everything isn't everything).

While we're on the topic of web dev stuff. I noticed something earlier where in the Recent Posts list, I had responded to a post but it didn't indicate by whom in the list. I noticed this behavior on someone else's post as well but it was erased once there was an additional reply.

Here are a couple of screen shots where I had replied after kryo and the post count indicated I had replied but kryo was still listed as the last reply (It's actually this thread, "Recent Posts? by Wyndstar).






The reply count said 3 and I was definitely reply 3 but it was still listed as by kryo.

I had other posts/replys today work normally so it's not all the time.

Oh, screenshots were a good idea, pictures saying a thousand words and all.



Also, yeah, the whole forum seems to update slowly and unreliably, as per mumblefratz above. Not sure why, and sometimes it catches changes right away.

Oh. That recent posts. I usually come directly to forums.galciv2.com so I usually don't even see that page but the method I outlined will get you the same list of posts as that. It is definitely true that if you use the Everything link you don't see everything recent.

You can see all posts up to the minute if you click on the very tiny "View all Recent Posts" link at the very bottom of the page.

Rest assured the forums work as intended. The Last Post Info and Last Reply Info columns do not update instantaneously. This is by design. Those of you who are really into seeing your name and/or post appear the second that you submit a reply or post will just have to be patient
