South Park really started Season 11 with a bang -- and many utterances of a
pretty 'naughty' word. No, not the S-word that they abused in a prior
episode. Not this time. This time it was the N-word. One that
the fairer skinned part of the population shouldn't use, at least not according
to the darker skinned part of the population.
For the current time period (approximately 1 week), you can see the start of
the show here (a video): South Park
at Comedy Central
After the current week and once the next new show airs, the link will likely
take you to the video for the next (new) show.
The title of last night's episode was: "With Apologies to Jesse Jackson." So,
obviously, Jesse Jackson was of course involved as a character in the show (not
him, but a likeness of him). As usual, being involved in the show doesn't
necessarily mean that South Park crew is going to treat you with respect.
I've said in the past that I think the Tom Cruise and Scientologists really
inspired the South Park creators. They had been in a bit of a lull and seemed to
be somewhat resting on their laurels and prior work. Ever since the Tom Cruise
flap, and especially since the flap with Isaac Hayes, Parker and Stone (the
creators, writers, etc., folks behind the show) have done highly inspired work.
Some of the best shows they've ever done really.
The premiere for Season 11 was one such show. It started with Stan's father
-- Randy -- as a contestant on Wheel of Fortune, trying to win the bonus round.
From there it went something like this:
Wheel of Fortune... clue: people that annoy you.
We spot you R T S L
E
I want B N G and an O
7 letters... starts with N... continues
with Blank, G G E R S
And just what word would Randy blurt
out?!
Apparently Randy, much like the cartoon cameraman of color that was filming the show-within-a-show who did one heck of a double-take when the board showed up that way, wasn't thinking of the word Naggers.
The rest of the show was a great Cartman centric episode about sensitivity and such. Again, one of the better episodes of South Park. I would say in a long time, but it's really only as far back as last season when the show was also firing on all cylinders.
Don't miss the opportunity to see the show that "everyone is talking about." It's that's good.
