That probably explains why he got sick back in January when he got the jar. Thank God he didn't continue eating it, he had a jar of something else he wanted to finish up first...

Of course, it couldn't have been because January's smack in the middle of cold and flu season...lol!

signed,

Damn glad I don't buy Peter Pan!

I'll call Wally and see what they are willing to do about it, since the manufacturer said to just throw it away and I don't really feel like doing that.

I called the 800 number and they have a recording telling people to mail the lid with the code to them along with your name and address.

We have it. And the jar only has about 3 Tbsp worth of PB left in it. No one got sick that I can recall.

We used some of it to make a bird feeder. Do birds catch Salmonella?

Went over to my parents house and looked in their pantry (old habits are hard to break) and lo and behold there was a jar of Peter Pan with 2111 stamped on the lid! They had already ate about a forth of it and I just tossed it in the trash.

I told them to get the PB I get. Good stuff Maynard! WWW Link

Yeah, they do.

Oops.

I don't think our can had anything bad in it, though. Either that or my family is superhuman and can't fall victim to puny Earth illnesses.

Somehow I doubt that all of it was contaminated. They're just recalling all of it to be on the safe side.

We have that code, too (it's the Reduced Fat creamy GV Brand)...and it's more than halfway gone.

I have tummy problems, but I don't count since I always have tummy problems...
Chris is doing pretty good, so we should be spared from this.

Get rid of it. Return it to the store or mail in the lid for a refund.

The moral of the story is: Eat the best PB in the World. South African Yum Yum!

Texas family is sueing I saw. Two of their kids got it. I don't know if that is what made me sick or not. Even if it was, I don't think sueing is the right thing to do.

I don't think I've ever seen South African peanut butter.

Unless the children were severely injured a lawsuit is just an exercise in greed.

It's gotten to the point that we feel we are owed when we are put in danger, though. We COULD have died, so someone needs to be punished. Oddly, we feel strongest about that when the punishment is mailing us a check, lol...

Yep. Like the Eagles said "I might feel better if you gave me some cash"
