New - Help with Configuring a Theme

Hi, I'm pretty new to this, but I've been messing around with stuff for awhile. I've looked at some tutorials but they don't seem to address what I'm looking to do with the client. Anyways, I downloaded WWW Link that theme. I then loaded it and tried to place shortcuts to my programs into the menu boxes that were already there. But I could only get a shortcut onto the desktop (Which opened with a single click - REALLY ANNOYING!) Also, the section to the right of the taskbar at the bottom, where like volume control is located, doesn't have anything in there.

So my question is, how do I configure a theme to work as it should?

Thanks for helping a noob

First of all gef's menues are configured by drag and drop as he indicated. This means you open windows explorer and find the program you want to add to the menu. So, let's say you clicked on Office pulling up the Office menu panel. To place a new program on the menu panel, without removeing one, simply drag the program from windows explorer onto the office menu. You can also right click on an existing Office menu program shortcut that gef supplied and click on select target. Then just navigate to the program on your computer that you want and DesktopX will replace the old shortcut that gef supplied with the new one you selected. Remenber to save your changes when your done with the DesktopX menu. Changing menu shortcuts is that easy. The replacement systray isn't activated that's the area on the right. To correct this download Stardock Central and configure it by clicking on Tools, Settings and on the general tab make sure that the 2 selections Enable MCP Notification and Enable MCP SmartStartup are selected. You DesktopX systray will now work.  To change menu items from single click activation to double click activation, you need to load DesktopX in Builder mode. Right now explaining these additional steps would take some more time. So, relax, take your time, and do some exploring on your own.

Hi BigDogBigFeet...just curious. I'm downloading Signals DX by Darkfusion. He recommends resizing the widgets using DX builder mode. As I've never done that before and am not exactly all that familiar with it could you give me some advice on how to please.

Yes Mr. Uvah. I will give you my best advice. First, load DesktopX in builder mode and start the Signals DX theme. Second, right click the DesktopX Icon in the system tray and select configure DesktopX Builder. Click on the Desktop Tab at the top and then click on the wallpaper tab. You will notice the wallpaper is called Signals_Wall.jpg. You will notice in the center on this panel you can center, tile or resize the wallpaper. Click on resize, click on close, then apply and OK. Now you need to restart DesktopX. Once again right click on the DesktopX Builder icon in the system tray and select restart DesktopX Builder(2nd from the botttom). DesktopX Builder will now reload itself and the supplied wallpaper will be resized to match your screen resolution of 1280x1024. Remember to also do a save theme as and give your modified theme a new name(this will preserve the original and also save your modifications. Now you will always have a Signals DX theme with a 1280X1024 wallpaper background. Although simple object and widget size changes can be made directly in DX, these objects and widgets are complex. So, for this reason I don't think they need resizing and besides they look OK at 1280x1024. If, however, you are a pefectionist you need to know the task to change them is not trivial and could only be done with careful time consuming work with a good graphics program. Can you find how to extract these objects for editing them in a grpahics program? I know how to do that also. But that is beyond the scope of my help here. And, may I ask when you have your own question try to follow polite forum customs and post your own thread? Thank you.
