By what name shall I call you?

I've been thinking of this question for some time, and I thought it would make a good forum post. How do you want to be called; by your nickname, your given name or ? Is there a certain etiquette to follow for this?
I have no problem with people using tbc, tb, tc, teddy, Barbara, Barb, teddybearcholla (I think that covers them all )

As an adult, I have no problem with anyone using either my real name (Mike) or my nick. I realize there's a certain amount of "danger" in that (identity theft for one) but I'm a big boy and I can take the risk.
Having said that, I would stress that children should NOT give out their real name over the internet due to the increased amount of "danger" that entails. I don't consider this site dangerous but it's better to be safe than sorry.

I've been Zubaz since 1991 in one forum or another (real and virtual).  I'm pretty OK with it as who I am.  I'm also cool with Aaron. To the locals, I'm Susan's Husband or one of the kid's dad.  I'm cool with that too.

Paul (my first name), or Corky (my real nickname from childhood) is just fine.

Thomas, Thom, ThomThom, TT, T, Thomas Thomassen, Mad Norwegian. That most of the various ways people refer to me. I've moved from using nicknames on the internet to simply use my real name. Though it's not easy to get "Thomas" registered as a nickname, hence why my nick here is my last name which I find a bit formal...

Lantec, Yes I agree, children should not give out their real name. I guess then, by the different responses one should ask first before using a persons real name!!

Chasbo is made up for this site. My boss calls me Chuckoff, it's a off shoot of.....you can guess. I know I'm in trouble with the wife when she calls me Chuck. Otherwise she always calls me Charles. My Mother's family calls me Charlie or Chuckie. I'll be 70 years old and I'll be Chuckie!

Back to the original question "By what name shall I call you?" I'm one of those old schooled people that believes it's in how we interact with each other that dictates what we call each other. You may well remember (before all this computer stuff) there were people you met that no matter what would always be refered to as Mr., Mrs. or Miss out of respect and others whom you would never ever think of calling them anything but by thier first name.
