AlienGUIse Problem

Please help

Just installed AlienGUIse today, I applied the XenoMorph theme. The wallpaper/icons worked out fine, but the windows/taskbar are the Windows Classic Theme. Any pointers on how to fix this? Thanks.

Trial version of WindowBlinds?

Not everything is skinned when using the trial version of WB.

This is actually a suite that uses Theme Manager OEM. You may want to try selecting xp desktop and then another theme again.

@Reply 1: Well, my trial version of WB expired but I thought you don't need WB for AlienGUIse.

@Reply 2: I'll try that right away, thanks!

All right, that didn't work...I'm reinstalling now.

I've heard of patching UXTHEME.dll files...should I do that?

Oh god no, I wouldn't suggest that. Windowblinds is so much more powerful and offers things msstyles and StyleXP could never offer. Plus it's completely safe, I'd never hack my system to apply themes. I would suggest buying Windowblinds though, I bought mine 3 years ago and never regretted it once.

Besides, if you went that route you couldn't use the Alienmorph theme anyway, it's only for Windowblinds.

When you 1st installed AlienGuise did it mention anything about you already have Stardock product(s) and did you want to use them instead?

No it did not, Bichur. Any other suggestions? I hate this ugly taskbar.

Currently, that's out of the question...should I get the trail version somehow?

You said you did have the trial version and it expired, redownloading it and reinstalling it won't help. Surely after 60 days you've had enough time to evaluate how good the program is and are willing to help support it by purchasing it to continue skinning your computer. Otherwise you'll have to get used to the default theme again.

Okay, thanks for your help, is there any way I can get the Alienguise theme working without buying Windows Blinds?

The suite downloaded from Alienwares Website does not require the ownership of any SD components to be installed on your machine. It comes with all you need to transform it. I would uninstall the suite, go to alienwares website, and download the special package from them, and install it.

How would you uninstall the suite? And what special package?

go to here:

enter your email when your about to download.

Just install the package you download.

Alienware suites for free.....

No need to have WB installed or any other stardock gadget, stardock and alienware has you covered in this package for free

I've tried this skin several times and had to restore my system. It just screws everything up. It is such a beautiful visual style, that it is a shame that it is so buggy. I don't have it on my ststem anymore due to the bugs in it.

When you can afford it just get objectdesktop it's more than worth the money as you'll eventually get tired of the alientheme tho it's far better than windows themes...lol..

I downloaded AlienGUIse and it has worked almost perfectly for me. The only problem I've had was the start menu refusing to open right after I booted up once, but it worked about a minute later (I think this may partly have to do with my computer's low memory- only 256 mb!). So just what bugs are you talking about?
