Windows Vista users already make up 5% of traffic

First day results!

Windows Vista has gone from being 1% of traffic of WinCustomize.com last week to over 5% on January 30th -- the official release date of Windows Vista.

Any bets on where it'll be next week?

I predict that it will be around 18% since it's new and there are alot of people out there that need the latest of everything .

Personally, I don't think that I'll switch over. On our test in at work with the business edition, there was already 4 windows updates. It looks nice, but alot of programs don't seem to work correctly on it. BTW, I work on the tech crew at a school district so you know what type of place I'm testing it at.

Sounds pretty good. I'll probably grab me an OEM copy of Vista Business for my laptop once reported (by the Vista upgrade adviser thingy) compatibility issues are ironed out.

If my DSL worked in Vista I'd be one of the 5%...but looks like it's XP for me a little while longer yet...

Well, since Microsoft can push Vista on people (much like Internet Explorer 7) I am not surprised. Plus most people that come here are techies anyway.

I suspect that MS will sell well but not as well as XP did.

I reckon it will rise until people realise that:
-the driver support is terrible for a new OS. Some hardware items do not have Vista drivers available with all the previous XP functionality.
-the Upgrade Home Vista versions won't clean install, you have to install on top of XP. Whatever happened to the earlier compliance checking routine?
-one does get tired of "glass" effects
None the less the "I've got to have that" mentality will win out over the "do I really need it" mindset and thats why its money in the bank for Microsoft.

12%

Waiting on two OEM Home Premiums in the mail ($117 each).

As a side note, the four reasons I am converting immediately:

1 - A more professional looking GUI

2 - Fantastic icons

3 - Great navigation paths (especially the 'Breadcrumb?' address bar navigation)

4 - Excellent display driver model for smooth delivery of the shell drawing

IMO - the biggest hurdle is the lack of fully compatible software titles that run well on XP. This almost stopped me from making the move until next year, but going back to XP after running RC2 just wasn't doing it for me.

Good luck to all who make the move.

I expect my copy of WINDOWS VISTA ULTIMATE tomorrow!!! Can't wait!!

Got Vista Ultimate last night.    But I do not count myself as one of those salivating "Gotta have it"/"Run out and kill someone for a copy" folks that Rahn referred to. I've been using Vista Beta for quite awhile now and knew what to expect.....lots of beta-testers did the same.

I suspect the numbers will go up at least by 5%.

I have a question: Would all these new Vista products from Stardock work the same way on each Vista edition or how is that?
Thanks in advance.

Vista Home Basic is running perfect for me. All the applications I need work and my third party softwares give me the added features of premium. Lite Version of Windows Vista with the apps I wanted and all the hot new features from third parties made better. Can't be that!

Traffic will go up big time
