Stardock Central is looking better and better.

With the clan, Empire, Medals, showing up on each thread this adds a lot of personality. I am at version 0.98b.136 Ver .93 on will self update.
I would highly recomend downloading it as it makes reading the forum almost like a chat room if you set the refesh time to every minute.

You can learn more about it at, http://www.galciv.com/sdcentral.html

Some one please reply with the download link for I have lost it again.
An obvious LINK should be on the homepage, BIG AND BOLD.

Yep that does the trick. So if you don't have it I highly recomend you give it a spin. Remember to try the other forums too. WinCustomize has some interesting off topic threads. Later. ;)

Quick question, I really can't wait to get the game, but do not want to install winblinds or any of the windows shell stuff.

Is stardock central something like that? Will I be missing out on a lot of the game if I don't install it? Can I choose not to install it?

Guess I'm just a bit curious about the packaging of the game and metaverse as it comes from a shell enhancement company. Can I avoid the latter for the former? Nothing against, but I'm one of those slim desktop/no background kind of guys.

I'm not sure but i believe that without sdc you can't get the bonus pack or incremental update. But you don't need to install windowblinds our anything else you might not want (i run an extremely slim desktopx "-) )

hope this helps

Ok, that's good - I don't need to keep it running resident or anything, right? I imagine not for a game, but seems like everything and its brother wants to always run on my system...

Nope, no need to have it always on. I just keep an icon on the desktop and check it every now and then. You just need the basic install, it gives you access to a lot of stuff but no need to actually get it.

Having it means you get the incremental tweaks and fixes and upgrades without having to wait for a bunch of them to be compiled into a formal patch. Sounded good enough for me to download and install it.

I finally got SDC the other day too, and I agree with Rusty - the download for it is impossible to find. I only got it because someone linked to it on the forum. :notsure:
All the little icons and the medals for people like midnight louie for being in 1st place and so forth are cool.

For those wondering, there's a Drengin.net game manager program as well that does something similar I believe. You could maybe get that instead of SDC. I'm sticking with SDC anyway, since I'm contemplating getting Object Desktop when my shiny new Visa arrives this week. :)

The Drengin.net gamemanager does the same, I subscribed to Drengin.net yesterday, but the SDC is way more up to date and it has way more options so I don't think I'll use the Drengin.net gamemanager anymore.

I just uninstalled the Drengin.net client, as the SDC one has more features and a nicer polish. Using 0.99 SDC.

Kimberly, impressed with Drengin.net!

Just installed the new SD Client... impressive! :-)

Now, if just GalCiv would be anywhere to download already... LOL

Stardock announced some time ago that SDC is a replacement for the Drengin Game Manager. I wouldn't expect any support for the DGM.

That makes sense but they pointed me to a download link for the Drengin.net gamemanager when I subscribed yesterday.

My guess is that they are awaiting the version 1.0 release of SDCentral (at the same time of GalCiv's release) to really replace DGM. Should happen tomorrow I think :)
