News reader help

Since we need a news reader to participate in the discussion using Stardock Central, I need to get one (I know I don't have to read it that way). But, its been years since I've used a newsgroup reading program and of course since I last used one, the number of choices has exploded. I was hoping to get some advice on a good one. I'd prefer freeware, but that's not an absolute requirement.

Thanks

As in newsgroups (Usenet and so forth). When you click on discussions in Stardock Central it says you need "news reading software". Years ago I used Netscape's built in program, but its gotten so unstable on my computer of late that I uninstalled it.

I leave it to the experts then, because I have never seen such a message so far. Just tried to help you.

Maybe you should try reinstalling your SDC. I don't have a news reader and I've been able to read the forums through SDC without any kind of errors along those lines.

Also, make sure you have the most current version of SDC. .98 I think

I have .98 installed, just did it this morning.... Hmmm, guess I'll uninstall and reinstall.

I don't understand. I am entering this from within SDC under the "discussion" tab. Are you unable to get there?

Hmm, according to 'Help', 'About', the version I have, downloaded today, is 0.99.138 and it hasn't asked me for a newsreader or anything like that.

Well, sadly its kinda pointless now. I uninstalled the previous version of SDC and installed the new one from today which kinda messed up win98. Hopefully, I'll get the new one running soon and I won't have to worry about it....
