Bigger maps?

Imo the current huge map, 18x18, is too small. Space should be alot bigger and exploration is something that should happen even at end game so I was wondering if it is a big change to allow bigger maps. Like 40x40?

There is no such word as noone. No one...

And most systems have a hard enough time coping with 18x18 galaxies.
40x40 would be totally impractical for the amount of memory and processing it would take.
