Any Empire needing a home

Any Empire needing a home page should check out The Galactic Core.

The Galactic Core is empire neutral but currently hosts the private forums of The Galactic Diplomats and Arrakis Imperium. The site owner has agreed to offer to host any and all GC2 empires.

Any GC2 empires, large or small, with or without their own site should consider it. You'll have your own seperate and private forum as well as access to all common areas. The Core is advert free and provides PM, polling and a common interest in Galciv2. The Galactic Core is Free, Friendly and Fun. You also don't need to be an empire to join, *all* individuals are welcome as well.

Well, seeing as we are on the lookout for new members, The Hitchhiker's of the Galaxy would be honoured to have a forum on the Core. ATM we have a forum on TBS Modder, but seeing as that's mainly about modding, there aren't that many meta players there.

We only have 2 members, are we accepted? .

Speaking out of turn, shouldn't be an issue. Just drop a post to that affect over at the core, so the site admins will pick it up and you should be in business in no time.

And Welcome!

By all means. Actually one member is sufficient, however I doubt we would set up a private area for you to talk to just yourself.

Actually modding is a good fit. We have a number of members interested in modding and the council has an interest in getting graphical type mods playable at least on the AltMeta as well as eventually on the "real" metaverse. I know that this is something that you've been working towards as well.

I notice that you already have an account at the Core. I'll go ahead and ask the admin's to set up a private area for the Hitchhiker's of the Galaxy. If your empire mate doesn't yet have an account over on the Core then prompt him to get one and we'll add him to your private area as well. I'll assume that you will be the moderator for your own area.

Thanks for that, I appreciate the Core for offering this to any Empire. The other member is TheGreatEmperor, who I'm sure you know. And yes, I will be the moderator, I have much experience with using phpBB.

I don't want to end up sounding like a used car salesman here, but I do want to encourage people to not be shy and to take advantage of this opportunity. You get the best of both worlds. You get to be part of a long term, well established community of galciv2 fans while at the same time having your own private quarters. It's a win-win situation for all involved.

Beg pardon for ducking the intent of the OP, but I have a Metaverse empires question.

I'm still a long way from the end of my first MV game, but I'm starting to suspect that "my emperor" (Wheeloffire) is on some extended tour of the provinces. What happens to players in an empire whose emperor is inactive? If the Empire of Standards declines and falls, will scores I post as a member be able to follow me to a new empire?
I can answer that one! I used to be a member of the Overmind empire. If you withdraw your character and join another empire, all of your characters posts are applied to the new empire.

Yep, an empire's score is just the sum of its characters' scores. The games are yours, so they go wherever you do and are not stuck with the empire you posted them under.

Just a bit of an update. Currently the Arrakis Imperium, the Hitchhikers of the Galaxy and the High Command Hegemony have joined with the The Galactic Diplomats to share The Galactic Core as a center of metaverse (and AltMeta) activity and discussion as well as the host of their private forums.

All GC2 empires large and small are welcome to join us. Besides your own private forums there are many interesting and fun attractions at the Core. Also, empire membership or even interest in the metaverse is by no means a requirement. Any and all are welcome at the Core.

Mumblefratz et al, why should those of us who've played GCII for a long while but not yet been seriously interested in the Metaverse take the time & bother to register for & learn yet another web site?

The banners y'all get above your medals are neat and all, but...

My point is not to be a salesman for another site, although I do feel it's a great other site. Certainly all are welcome. But my desire is to have the Core be a single point of contact for all metaverse players.

Part of this is, as I've seen from trying to form the metaverse council, that it's virtually impossible to get all those interested in the metaverse together. It's also become apparent to me that some empires that appear to be unresponsive and falling apart are doing no such thing. The issue is not that people are uninterested in the metaverse and have stopped posting games. I'm convinced it's at least as big a factor that folks are less interested in the forums than they are the metaverse.

If I can have a place pretty much dedicated to the metaverse player, I think that's more attractive than a place where the metaverse player is often considered a second class citizen. Also empires come and go just as people come and go. If we have a place that's essentially metaverse central then as an empire decays people will have immediate access to, and knowledge of, healthy empires that they share a web site with.

So my answer is, if you're really not interested in the metaverse then it's probably not worth the bother for you to register and learn a new web site.

You have a point there Mumble my friend.

GW, I know you have a strong streak of minimalism as do I. But I really do wonder between the minimalism, the desire to play devil's advocate and the willingness to lob a softball for me to hit out of the park, which of these were the primary motivation behind your question.

BTW, hurry up and post that metaverse game you're working on. You're at the top of a short list of "at large" representatives for the council. We feel your unique perspective can only enhance the council’s representative nature, even if you do consider yourself an "anarchist", reformed or otherwise.

Just want to give this thread a bump.

The offer to host private forums at the Galactic Core for any and all empires is still open. Anyone interested could post a response either here or at the Core. Messages can be posted in the Open Forum at the Core prior to registering. Everyone is welcome.

Yet another bump.

I just want folks to realize that when I say that the Core is willing to host the private forums of any and all GalCiv2 empires, I do mean *any* and *all*.

Meaning that if you have at least two members come on down!!

Say it, Mumble: "Even the Empire of Standards."

I'll try to stop by in the morning.

Yes. I do mean "Even the Empire of Standards".

Caveat Emptor. The Core does welcome any and all, however the Core may not be as tolerant of bad behavior as the GalCiv2 forums have shown themselves to be. The admins of the Core (BTW I am a moderator at the Core but *not* an admin) reserve the right to make their own subjective judgement about peoples behavior.

What I'm saying is that you've demonstrated that you can be a benefit to the community when you mostly keep it to the game itself, it's only when you stray into explicit criticism of others that there's any issue. I understand the arguement that the intent may simply be "over the top" joking that no reasonable person should take seriously, however many people do take it that way. In any case that's enough pontificating "even" for me.

The Core would welcome the EoS and give you your own private forum of which you would be the moderator. All we would ask in return is a modicum of civility.

No problem. I won't live up to my #2 ranking as the most annoying person in GC2.

Why wasn't I #1?

Why wasn't I #1?

The order in that thread was not well specified. However, since S1genocide called FC a Nazi, if think he qualified as #1 by any stretch of the imagination. Probably #2 is where I would rank you on the list currently, however you have the ability to rise or fall on the list dependant on your whim.

That list is very subjective, I disagreed with at least 2 folks on that list, probably 3. If you read the complete thread you know I argued for some level of "forgiveness", however that thread hasn't really had any activity for months. In any case, what's been said has been said, I deny none of it even though I would prefer to be proven wrong.

The Colonial Fleet would be interested in being hosted at the Galactic Core. While the Admiral is away I will represent the Fleet. What do I need to do?

Go to The Galactic Core and register. All you need is an email address. For convenience you should use your GC2 name there as well but it’s not absolutely required. Once there you can send me (Mumblefratz) a PM (private message) and I’ll make sure you get set up.

I’m glad to see the fleet reassembling. I don’t know if you’ve seen much about the Metaverse Council but you should also check up on what we’re trying to do to increase participation and enjoyment of the metaverse. One of the conclusions that we’ve made based on our attempts to contact folks in various empires is that a lot of folks are far less interested in the forums than they are in the metaverse. From forum appearances there are a lot of empires that seem to be in very bad shape, however if you look at metaverse game submissions these same empires are far healthier than they seem.

Our goal is for the Galactic Core to be a common meeting point for all things metaverse. It’s fine if people aren’t all that interested in forums, but it’s also good to know that when you do decide to check in that there will always be someone there to greet you. They may not happen to be from your empire, but *someone* will be there. To try and address some of these issues the Metaverse Council (MVC) is currently starting a campaign to contact by email every person that’s ever submitted a metaverse game.
