Metaverse Council General Conversation Thread

Metaverse Council General Conversation Thread

The Metaverse Council - So simple even a caveman can understand it

This thread is for general conversation (hence the name) related to the Metaverse Council. This thread should be used to keep clutter off of the Metaverse Suggestion thread. General chatter and preliminary discussions about various ideas should occur here. Once an idea starts to gain shape and pick up interest a new thread should be created to discuss the idea in depth.

I would gladly trade inclusion of more players for update frequency.

After a couple hours of beating on the altmeta to get it to work properly and process all the unaligned players, while discarding anyone who has never submitted a single game, I finally got it all straightened out and got some stats.

Number of unaligned players on the metaverse:

~10,000

Number of unaligned players that have submitted at least one game:

2,637

Number of unaligned players that have submitted a game in the last six months, and thus actually need to have AltMeta stats generated for them:

3

I don't think I'll be including unaligned players in the AltMeta.

Okay i think the data speaks for itself.

Wow. I guess everyone that's still playing is pretty much aligned.

Ok, suggestions for improvement in the Official Meta:
1. Be able to delete an empire that you founded - currently cannot be done.
2. Be able to delete a character and the subsequent action of deleting you from the Meta (someone wanted to remove himself totally from the Meta and there is no way to delete your default charater once created).

Yea this would improve data gathering, and it would definetly keep those with high dead scores from crowding the Meta.

If this could be done to the AltMeta than great, but i think that it is to early to go asking SD for changes.

The AltMeta scores only include those newer than six months, any beyond that point are aged to 0 and discarded. So inactive players are not really an issue.

Thanks for the effort put into this. It's good to know that we're not really excluding anyone. If the 3 people that would be excluded by this were to create their own empire of one would that cause them to be included?

This is another excellent feature of the AltMeta.

Two of them were Vulcan and Livonya who are both in the top 12 of the official meta already, so they would be covered by that. The third was quite a ways farther down and all of his games were older than two months (I didn't check how much older, I just know they were inside six months), so he wouldn't be covered.

I should note that the 'total games submitted' stat and the ranking for it are based on the all-time. However if you don't submit any for six months, you will fall off that ranking.

Back to business at hand. Council members, remember if you haven't already, come by the council chambers at the Core and give your input on the discussions currently underway. We will soon be voting on/naming at large members and want to be sure all council members have given their thoughts/ideas. Thank You.

Long live the Metaverse.

OK Let me check out a bit of horn tootage.

While I'm at it may as well check out the multiple links in a post issue using a link to the AltMeta.

OK, I admit that I like it. A couple of points though. One is that we still have a problem with multiple links in a single post. I assume that this will get fixed sooner or later.

The second point is I really need to start submitting games a little more frequently.

Also, is there anyway to get rid of the underlining of the link? I'm guessing that there isn't but thought I'd ask anyway. I think it detracts from the beauty of the graphics.

You about ready to crank up GC2 on that new dual-core? I think you should get a nice surprise by how good the game will look and run compared to your old one.

Actually it's been all set to go for awhile now but I've been putting in so much time on the council that I haven't been able to start one yet, soon I hope.

You just need to submit one game every < 6 months though and you'll stay on the sactivity rankings.

Peep out the conversation thread in the Core. There are pages and pages of discussion.

TBay, Good to hear from the emperor of the Orcas . As Vukasika said stop by the Core and check out the threads under the Metaverse heading. It will let you know a lot about what's going on and feel free to chime in about your own thoughts.

There are about three threads that have substanstial discussion in them. One of the main things we're trying to do ATM is to define brackets so that people that play smaller games or victory conditions other than military have a chance to compete.

Lacking any guidence, the council has "drafted" Syrrus K and Thagee as representatives from the Orcas, but you're welcomed to drop by the Core as well and check things out. You're also welcomed to change up the Orcas represetation if you see fit to do so. Syrrus K has been involved with discussions at the Core but Thagee has had password issues that have so far prevented him from contributing. You're input would be appreciated as well.

The biggest issue is having folks check in frequently enough to get discussions and a vote done. There have been a lot of posting involved with this as well so any reps need to be considered with that in mind.

The most useful threads to check out here are the "Is anyone out there?" and the "Some ideas for a constitution" threads. There was another one here but I can't recall the name ATM.

I gotta run now but I'll post more later on all of this, in the meantime it would help if you check out the threads that I mentioned. Good to see you back though.

Great to see the Emperor of the Mighty Orcas here again

And the other thread is Metaverse Players. Let your voice be heard.

That thread is mostly the feedback we got from some of the other forum activists and general folk.
