game crash for no reason

yer umm im having this problem where i jus installed the game and i dont even get to get past the choosing race screen before it crashes and windows asks me to send an error report i have tried everything and i cannot update because im borrowing this game of a friend and he didnt give me the actual cd case with the serial no.
