We need more feedback

We need more feedback

Have the beta? We need more info!

We are really looking for more feedback on the beta. We know hundreds of you have the beta, but we're not getting a lot of feedback. Especially in specifics.

We will be letting those who pre-ordered the game on its own (as opposed to getting Drengin) start getting it next week. But in the meantime, we really need your help in this. The game is going gold and we're in crunch time now (the amount we can do in 4 weeks you'll be amazed by).

What things would you like to see that can be reasonably implemented? (i.e. don't suggest primaries or some other completely new game mechanism).  What play balancing do you think we need? Does it crash? If so, we need to know your video card and OS info and make sure you're running DirectX.

Thanks!

The game should, through reward or punishment, move you into some of the other issues. Force you away from the milktoast "Jobs and Envirement" platform. And of course, make it possible to do the same to your opponent...

Interesting game, not quite fun yet but has lots of potential

Bugs
1. Having to remove the DSS files before starting is a pain.. and still I have troubles getting it to load reliablely
2. Still have some random freezes and crash bugs.
3. Minor typos and in several cases the text was too long to be display e.g. Joeuser.com
4. Alt Tabing game during creation crashes

Performance issues.
1. There is a consistently a 5 to 15 sec. lag between clicking on an object and new dialogue box being opened, very frustrating
2. Unclear if the opponent is moving simultaneously or do I have chance to get to a ? before my opponent... (cause of #1)

Game Model.
1. I like the investing in infrastuctures of campaign HQ, but fundamentally I disagree that Campaign HQ should have a spill over to adjacent states. State Presidential political orgs are very focused on there own state, cause for instance campaign contribution laws vary from state to state.
2. Conversely, advertising should impact neighbors states (e.g. buying an Ad in the NY Times) also reaches Conn. NH, NY etc.
3. On the other I hand I agree that establishing awareness is the most important thing and a candidate flying in really helps.
4. You are missing a lot of potential drama by having the election follow the polls. Remember the margin of error on national polls is generally +/- 3 or 4 points. You can use real statistic analysis to calculate the probability that candidate leading 47 to 45 with 8% undecided actually wins

Advertising
1. The ratio of initial cost of an AD to the weekly media cost shouldn't be more than 3x to 5x. (Political ads are really cheap to make.)
2. It would be great to have the option to conduct national TV ads, on a cost per person (CPM) basis it is cheaper to run ads nationally, but of course you waste money advertising to the people of Mass or Texas....
3. You are also missing the option to run character ads (John Kerry flip flops, George Bush lies...) instead of issue ads.

Election night..
The graphic should be the map.. a Clock, current electoral votes. (i.e. steal from what the networks use.)

1. I think again you are missing an opportunity for drama.
8:15 CNN calls MA. for John Kerry Bill Schneider no surprise here. (no need to zoom the map on the states a simply highlight works)
8:25 CNN calls NH for Bush ... Last Poll had Bush leading 47 to 45... but could have gone either way.
....
11:00 CNN calls MO. for Bush. Big upset here polls had Kerry leading in MO..

The last presidential game I played President Elect from SSI , circa 1980s had this and it worked very well.

Well I'm just starting to learn it, and really love it so far. I can't seem to save my game however. Also, it's been alittle difficult to select the smaller states. If the game crahses I have to reboot my computer to get it to run again.

After I learn what the heck I'm doing I'll have a lot more feedback for you!

An in-game tutorial would be wonderful... Also, I'd like to be an independant, Whig, or soemthing else instead of Republican or Democrat

OK some more notes: If I do anything before launching the game after rebooting, the game CTD's. Pretty frustrating. My system is quite clean. The only other things that run in hte background are itunes junk and Nero (inCD) stuff.

I just tried to make a character like myself in real life, and having little to no stamina in real life I set my in-game char up like that too. I'd have to say it's impossible to win with a low stamina. You do one action then have 1 or 2 turn points wasted (unless I'm missing something here).

1. The ticker doesn't move

2. I find the game verey fun. MAP: with more icons, the map becomes a mess. You can't tell what's all combined in each state when there's more than one icon in a state.

3. Election day: the voting state-to-state map switch is WAY too fast. If you add a little more data, and let the person wait at each state, it'd be much more dramatic and a great way to close the game.

4. There should be some way to play as an evil/swindler/lying type character.

5. The Stamina bar has 2 bugs. One where it stays at a certain level and you can move your "extra" guy around indefinately, and another where you lose stamina but it stays at 5/5 etc. instead of going down to 4/5, etc.

Is political capital not in the game yet?
Political Capital has to be purchased using Stamina points.

Is there a way to win if you start with money stats set to zero? or if you have stamina set to zero?

I have been getting random crashes to desktop during the game itself in build .90 . I am using a GeForce 2 MX 400 and Windows 98.

Just downloaded the version (I was trying 0 7 and gave it some time). I think I have the triangles problem that is already reported - map is covered with translucent triangles, and I am unable to choose the state. They change the colors when I change the map filters (views). I am running Windows XP (Czech edition), AMD 1.5GHz, ABit Siluro grafic card, 512MB ram.

If you like more info, let me know.
